BMW Z4 M not planned for current Z4 lineup , M-sport version coming
Those hoping and dreaming of driving an M version of BMW's new roadster the Z4, will for sure be dissapointed. Accordign to IMotor mag there will be no M version of the hot and new redesigned BMW Z4 roadster.

Just how sporty will the new Z4 get then? Imotor says that BMW is planning an M sport versions which means the same great aerodynamics and look of an M car , minus the thirsty V8. There is also talk of an upgraded ECU for the Z4 which could mean a boost up to 326 hp (just as the new 3 Series has receieved).

To quote the BMW representative exactly:

"Given the current economic crisis there is no business case for a full-on M version of the Z4."

Would the scenario be different say a year ago or two ago? Most likely... Guess you will just have to settle for the note to sixty of the Z4 and the M-sport package.

This car and the Z8 are the best looking Z cars, I would buy this Z4, I did not expect the z4 to look this good.

I aggree 100%! Also, BMW said they had no plans for an M version of the last Z4, too. Since the entire industry seems to look to BMW as the trend maker, they like to keep them guessing.

So, BMW decides to build a X5M and X6M, but not this.

Is BMW a driving enthusiast company or an truck company?

DocMarten,

Are you putting hate towards BMW again? *sigh*
If I remember correctly, Mercedes-Benz make trucks and buses as well.

i think since the last z4 M was a failure they arent putting out a new one. it wouldv been cool if they launched an M version at the same time of the regular versions release to help give the z4 a better reputation

If they don't do an M version of this car, then it will forever be known as a chick car, plain and simple.

The M-model will probably show up somewhere up the road, hopefully. However for now this more unexciting news from Munich continues to damper my feelings on my favorite car companies future.

If Mercedes-Benz is still selling the SL63 AMG, why not a Z4 M?

Things that make you go...hmmmmm.

because an SL63 is around $150k and the new Z4 with the twin turbo engine will be around $60k. NOW, if MB made a SLK63, it would be different. however, they do currently have a SLK55 AMG.
That would be a good comparo, the Z4 3.0si vs the SLK55 AMG
