Bmw searching a new partner for hybrid batteries
Yes, it is true! Bmw, the Bavarian car manufacturer is currently searching for a technology partner in order to build its hybrid car batteries. This came from Mr. Klaus Draeger, company’s head of Reseach and Development.

“We are studying the battery market to see where to get the best cell technology for our mega city vehicle,” said Draeger at a press conference.

and not to mention the partnering between Toyota and Subaru.

Funny thing is that Toyota seems plausible. BMW's hybrids probably won't interfere with Toyota's products much, and considering the fact that they actually let Nissan license their hybrid system, Toyota might actually be looking forward to benefits for its Lexus brand.

BMW has to watch out though. The Japs like to do business in a certain way. Toyota didn't really license Nissan its perfected hybrid system - or something nearly as good. As a matter of fact, Nissan probably had to figure out all the minor glitches themselves - something evident through the differences between the Camry and Altima hybrids.

Nissan won't be using Toyota's system anymore when the new Infiniti M comes out. Nissan has a partnership with NEC to produce their lithium ion batteries.
