Coupe Show-Down:2010 Camaro V6 vs. 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8/ Which Would You Choose?
Everyone has had their eyes on the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS, including us. It is, after all, the Camaro with a V8. This makes the SS the Camaro for enthusiast. And with a 6-speed manual, the SS will stomp through the quarter-mile in a stunning 13 seconds flat at 110.9 mph.

Also new for 2010, is the Camaro V6, known as the LS, 1LT or 2LT, depending on how much equipment you want on your coupe. All versions use the direct-injection V6 3.6-liter V6 that powers upmarket Cadillac CTSs. And if you order the manual, you get a the same Aisin-built 6-speed gearbox as the Caddy too. That's a good starting point for a car that is supposed to sway those that aren't already initiated into the Camaro faithful.

This car stomps the V6 American pony-car competition. What? You think a 210-hp 4.0liter V6 Mustang will have an answer for the Camaro V6? You think the Dodge Challenger SE with its 250-hp V6 bolted to a 4-speed automatic is going to do anything but embarrass itself? Stop being ridiculous.

No, to get a car that gives the V6 Camaro a run for its (relatively little) money you have to go to Korea, of course. Here we speak of the 2010 Hyundai Coupe 3.8 Track. We've track tested both and we think you'll find the numbers and specifications after the jump quite surprising.

Why all the constant derogatory comments, bigeasy? You scared of something?

Since performance isn't the isssue between the cars I guess for me the choice would come down to: the two cars sitting next to each other and which one do i want to be seen in.

If I have to base on look alone, I would go with the Camaro.

I will still take the Camaro over the Hyundai only because of history with me in the United States.

The Hyundai Genesis is anything, but Biblical.

Give me a chainsaw and I will give it proper styling :-D

That Camaro crushes that trendoid mobile Hyundai ;->~

Though the Hyundai is a great car/product, give me some hardcore American muscle/style!

Considering just 3 or 4 yrs ago that 0-60 in 6 seconds or less was very respecticle performance even from a V8 I don't think you're getting that short changed. 4.6 seconds is great but in everyday driving 99% of the population will never use it except dum, immature teens. In that case if their parents let them drive a Camaro then they deserve to pay 6 grand a yr in insurance premiums. Being an insurance agent I would never let a kid own,buy or drive any Camaro,Mustang,or Challenger until they were 30 yrs of age or older. It's seems like in the Hyundai you are getting a better designed, better quality interior for the 4 grand difference. If you go for the automatic LS you get 29 MPG on the highway in the Camaro. That is pretty incedible for a heavy V6 engined car. Of course when you load up a Camaro V6 you're at the V8 price for a Mustang GT. As you've all read for a donkey cart rear suspension the car with the track pack really handles and it has a nice sounding V8 that you can hear from inside the car. Further it a little easier to see out of then a Camaro. The V6 Mustang, which I drove about 3 yrs ago in a rental car,was a nice cruiser but until they put a Duretec V6 in it I'd have to go with the GT.

I had a ball with my '04 Mustang V6 5speed that used the 3.9L from the Freestar. If you go with a manual, the V6 Mustangs really aren't that bad....they're plenty quick. And near bulletproof. I only got rid of mine because they suck in the snow IF you're in a hilly area. They're easy to use in flat snow and ice(western NY).

I just plain dont like the Hyundai, so i would definitely pick the nicer of the two cars, being the Camaro

There is a reason why that Camaro style went out of production in the the 60s. Hyundai any day.

In my ever so humble opinion, the new camaro is the sickest looking coupe in its class. That is the best Chevy has to offer right now.

i cannot believe how retarded some people are.... how can you even say genesis and camaro in the same sentence ?

im from nyc, where im from, hyundai has 0 cachet. its a car for losers. anyone who drives a hyundai is making a compromise and settling for less. it is a piece of shit !!! only losers drive it !!!

btw, this wont even be cross shopped. mustang, challenger, camaro. does genesis even have room here ?

camaro will destroy the genesis. camaro looks better inside and out and the hyundai looks like a car for little bitches !!!

The Genesis. There is just something terribly wrong with a V6 Camaro. Camaros should have a V8 under the hood, end of story.

Phantom, its almost comical how ignorant you are.

You realize without the v6 version it wouldnt exist in the first place, right?

The v6 camaro will be a good car. Hyundai...who knows. Thats the problem. Hyundai expects to jump into this segment and compete with no experience. Not bad for a first try, but still way off the mark. The v6 Genesis will be a super hard sell with all the competition, given its very poor numbers.

When did the Comaro have a great v6. Was it the 125hp 2.8, 140hp 3.1, or the 160hp 3.4 that will need its intake manifold gasket replace every 50K miles. GM's first great V6 was the 3.6 high feature. The 3.8 was good but not great. V6 Comaros are a chick car.

The Camaro is the much more appealing car of the two, but I'd take a Challenger over both of them.

To the people trying to "educate" me......first off, you spelled Camaro wrong. Secondly, I obviously realize that the most popular version of the vehicle is the V6 model, but that doesn't mean it's any good. Look at the last generation, what did it have, 200hp? Whoopie Doo.....for as much as it weighted it was a mid 7 second 0-60 car. Like crslmn said, the v6 is the car for chicks and for rednecks that can't afford the V8 under the hood.

Also, to Obliv.....how do you know the V6 is going to be a good car? What do you have to base that off of again? Sounds like you're the ignorant one.

A Camaro is a MUSCLE car, and having a V6 under the hood just goes against the whole point of the car. Only reason it is there, like I said before, is for chicks and cheapskates. End of story, thanks for playing.

You must be new to this, Phantom.

I could post many reviews of the v6 camaro, saying how its a great car. I could send people who have driven the v6 camaro to this site to say how good of a car it is. But would it change you're highly logic-flawed mind? More than likely not.

This car is a mini 350z. 6spd manual, 300hp direct injected v6, dual exhaust. Whats not to like other than the heft?

I'd take the Genesis Coupe because when modded, they look like nothing else under $70k. Ridiculously sick with a proper drop and some nice wheels.
