Toyota has been pretty worried about the 2010 Honda Insight hybrid that is priced lower than the current Toyota Prius and will definitely be priced lower than the 2010 Prius. With competition heating up, Toyota has decided it will produce a new small hybrid vehicle that will be priced lower than the Insight.

According to Akihiko Otsuka, chief engineer of the redesigned 2010 Prius, Toyota is producing a small gasoline-electric car that will be a spin-off of the Toyota Yaris.

Yaris means "cheap" so if there is a hybrid version we already know it will be a cheapie. duh.

Don't see the point the Yaris already gets great fuel economy! Unless the hybrid Yaris is fathoms better in fuel economy, I don't see the point! Otherwise I jsut see the hybrid Yaris of a marketing tactic to get people accustomed to hybrids!

The Yaris and Accent don't look cheap to you? But the Honda Insight does? I've worked for 2 Hyundai dealerships there is a reason they have a ten year warranty. Like Tbelts snapping at 30K mile used to have 1 every other week.

They were all under warranty and parts have to be saved for inspection. That was just an example of things that I saw that would prevent me from buying a Hyundai.
