Is the new BMW Z4 no longer a driver's car?
If you’re looking for a drop-top driver’s car, you’ve come to the wrong place. The Z4 is the kind of car that will dazzle inexperienced drivers over a mountain road, yet leave keen drivers mildly amused but ultimately craving a little more interaction.

However, it’s perfectly judged for its intended clientele – refined, eye-catching, an event to drive, very well made – and the folding roof is good, despite the few niggles outlined above. Just don’t go expecting the old Z4. When you’ve got a tough act to follow, it seems, sometimes the best response is not to follow it at all.

Does the trademark BMW's "magic steering feel" mean the rack goes inside out every 10.000 miles?

Oh come on, I was just kidding. I like the way this car looks and the interior is even better. BMW listened and ceased their weird styling together with fit and finish being rather on the cheaper side of the business (see previous Z4 interior).

And the Z4 is, what, million times better than the tarted up VW Rabbit/Golf, also know as Audi TT, sharing engines, transmissions, driveline, chassis and platform with it, for which Audi charges USD 45.000.

The new Z4 is an incredibly refined true driver's car. Wait until you drive one yourself on a nice bit of twisty pavement before you believe the haters and their bullsh!t. If you you have one ounce of passion in your bones you will get what "magic feel" is about.

That is one stunning looking manly car. Definitely not a hairdresser special like the Audi TT.

dhks2002,

it's funny that everyone thinks this car is so manly because it's the first BMW roadster designed entirely by women. there's an article about it in NYTimes. They had an anonymous competition among their designers and one woman won for exterior design and another won for interior design.

i, for one, think it's great-looking, but don't really have an opinion either way as to whether its masculine or feminine. I just like it.

That's why I'm eager to see Z2 3.0.
No turbo please, I want something natural.
