Voice Of Lexus Commercials Since 1989 Moves To Mitsubishi

Well it didn't take long for James Sloyan to land another gig. The only ad narrator for Lexus since it arrived in 1989 was recently cut loose by Toyota's lux brand and its agency, Team One. But Mitsubishi Motors North America said it signed Sloyan last week and started testing radio ads with his distinctive voice in several of its top markets.

Expect to hear more Sloyan stumping for Mitsubishi. A spokesman for the automaker said the radio spots are just the start of a much larger campaign.

How did this happen?

I really liked when he - your clone - once said you should stop impersonating him!

Of course it's a debatable move by Lexus, but they probably should move the game on or risk getting stale.
Great move by Mitsubishi, who can only gain by any association people make.

I wonder if the IS-F commercial he did where he was being flung around on the track while reading his script was like a "goodbye party"?

Mitsubishi is the company that built the Zero fighter aircraft that was used to kill Americans at Pearl Harbor that started WWII.

Mitsubishi builds whaling ships and is also building a salt plant in Scanlon’s Lagoon where nearly all the world’s gray whales go to raise their young which will likely lead to their extinction. Does that mean we should stop buying their cars and TVs from them? What if they have features that are convenient?

Is it you who loves everything from Germany? How about their "contribution" to the WWII?

going by your logic EL: bmw, audi, mercedes all come from a country that killed millions of jews for no reason, and is where hitler ruled.

this is failed logic and is not fair at all.

I think the initial move by Lexus was a good one to move perception of the brand further away from the "old people" crowd. The new guy they got for the new RX commercials sounds more like he's in his 30s.

"Come on guys are you kidding"? Akio Toyoda is coming down the pike and there are strategic moves Toyota is putting in place. No rocket science there to figure out. Trust me, the sedate Toyotas and Lexuses you have been use to are being revolutionized therefore the pure(sterile)Luxury image is being exiled. The LF-A is the super exotic Halo car but, It won't end there. Watch and listen for the next commanding voice that will soon manifest. My prediction is they've pretty much mastered the Luxury image and now their products will become more performance driven but not at the expense of their green image.
