Will this engine be used in the new M5?

Yeah, it should appear in the F10 M5, the engine is rumored to be a twin turbo 4.4 liter with around 540-550hp, or about 125hp per liter.

I wonder what the price will be, probably similar to well-equipped 750i series territory

Put that engine in the 5 series Xi wagon with a stick shift or the new dbl clutch trans and that would be a really hotty. I sat in the X6 at the LA auto show and could not figure out what it was good for.

I'd almost say the same thing about an M5 Wagon. Sedan, different story.

Has a higher ride than a sedan. People actually like that, and once you get used to the higher ride, you get addicted to it. It's a sporty youthful SUV.

People buy these because they hate sedans and won't be caught dead in a station wagon! Its THAT simple. The same is true for just about any crossover SUV buyer.

As for me, I can't wait to trade in my X5 and get an X6 in two years when they start coming off of three-year leases.

This is the most pointless car... next to the Pontiac Aztec.

I don't know what world you're living in, but last time I checked the X6 kills the X5 in performance numbers and in handling. It has 50 more hp, even more than that of torque, is almost a whole second faster to 60, and looks sportier. Ofcourse the X5 will sell more, it is meant to sell more!

And the X6 is still considered higher above the ground than all sedans. You will still get that same feeling of being higher above the ground.

Oh, and I said before, no one buys the X6 for cargo space or to carry a whole family! It's like buying a coupe and then complaining that it's too cramped for your family!!!

judging by sales numbers? you do know that this didn't even sell 1500 units for the year, right? so tell me again, people really do like this?

We dont have many X6 in Denmark, but i have seen a feew and i like it a loot, looks very sporty. On vacation in USA back in september I spotted a few too, thinks it looks smaller than an X5 therefor more handy.

The X6 is not for the family man/woman. It is for the Alpha. Sporty, higher ride, aggressive stance, advanced technology, powerful, balanced cockpit design. There is enough storage in the back for 4 people.
The X6 handles better than most cars that are considered "sporty". Yes, I have driven the X6 on a track.
Have you? Dont knock it until you try it.

Then, can anyone tell me the point of the Porsche Cayenne? The X6 M will be faster than the Cayenne Turbo S and $40k less. How is that a bad thing?

Huu

It has been said that the X6 M is faster round the track than the M3.

Now even if it were just 1 sec slower that would be an amazing feat. If it really were faster then i would ask you to SHUT UP PERMANENTLY.

"huu76" We all know you wouldn't buy an M3 either because you'd probably say it's unreliable or something of the sort. Clearly you hate BMW with a passion; like they slept with your g/f or something, so your opinion immediatly becomes irrelevent.
