Acura Coins ZDX for X-6 Killer Concept

Acura announced it will debut a prototype of the all-new ZDX luxury four-door sport coupe at the New York International Auto Show. The prototype features striking coupe-like styling with the added benefit of a commanding presence and flexible utility to define a new luxury category.

“The ZDX prototype is unlike anything you have ever seen before from Acura,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president, Acura sales. “The prototype showcases a new level of luxury, style and refinement for Acura and speaks volumes towards our commitment to advancing the brand.”

The production version of the ZDX prototype will bring a new level of prestige to the Acura lineup when it arrives at dealerships this fall and offer the latest advancements in performance, technology and safety.

The ZDX prototype will be introduced at the New York International Auto Show on April 8, 2009 at 11:00 am in the Acura booth.

BMW killer? HAH! Acura is just the next Japanese company in line trying to pick some low lying fruit from BMW's tree. How many BMW killers do we have to endure? Face it, Acura will offer 80% of the X6 performance at 80% of the price and those who can't afford an X6 will be in hog heaven. Just ask any RX owner why he didn't buy an X5 - the RX was cheaper and they didn't really "need" (meaning want to pay for) the performance of the X5.

thstone - the RDX competes with the X3 not the X5, the MDX competes with it. You haven't seen the new Acura yet so how do you know what it'll have. Also, it will probably be 80% of the price of the X6, but the Acura will probably have 120% of the features if it doesn't match the performance.

How is this going to kill the X6? The BMW already isn't flying off dealer lots. It would seem that when developing any product to directly take on another, you would take into account the sales of the competing product. That is, however, unless Acura believes that it genuinely can out-X6 the X6 in some aspect, as opposed to just offering an alternative in the segment.

you all are all haters, the rdx is the closest to the cayanne, best handler and the interiors of all acuras KILLLLLL beamer interiors. X6 is a ugly piece of garbage and even with a v6 this will eat the x6 alive on the track with SH-AWD. If you guys are actually that retarded the last gen of tl-s raped the track, meaning it beat infinity g35!!!!! and its front wheel drive. This crossover will beat the beamer in everything but maybe not a straight line, but who cares about going straight corners are for men.

300BHP engine from RL and SH-AWD will make it a good competitor of X6 xdrive35i and Cayenne S. Plus lots of features and roughly $10K less than the German competitors. Nice.

1dott8, what is this "feeling" based on? I think a general consesus would be that the most recent Acura vehicles (MDX, TL, TSX, beak on the RL) are at best awkward looking and at worst, plain ugly. The RDX, in my opinion, is the only decent looking model in the line up.

this is "feeling" is based on hope. i do hate and i do mean hate the new acuras that came after the legend and vigor but i would love to see a good looking suv/sav/abc or whatever this categry is called. i hope acura can pull it off becaquse no one else has.

lmfao at X6 killer. It will have the same oversized, underpowered V-6. The X6 has diesels, I-6tt, V-8tt and a X6 M coming.
