Hyundai Genesis Prada previewed before Seoul debut
The Hyundai Genesis sedan keeps adding to its already impressive resume. Already the 2009 North American Car of the Year and a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS, Hyundai is now playing in the big league if it wasn’t already before.

Images of the Hyundai Genesis Prada edition have been released prior to the car’s debut at the 2009 Seoul Motor Show. That’s right - Prada, the Italian fashion label has joined forces with Hyundai for a special edition of the Genesis saloon (just sounds more exquisite than sedan).

Doesn't matter what everybody says you can't ignore this cars beauty. Yes I never thought I would say this about a Hyundai but I guess the time has come. The Genesis is the car that has put the Korean brand on the map. I see good things to come from the firm and can't wait to see the flagship out.

Doesn't matter what everybody says, you can't ignore money that Hyundai is recently putting into marketing. But marketing have been always very effective in US, and Hyundai knows this.

Hyundai knows that it doesn't matter whether they talk good or bad about you. The main thing is that they talk about you!

They can put some much money into marketing when you don't need to have designers on payroll.

Like a design by Mercedes or Lexus?

1) Copy
2) Paste
3)
4) Profit?

Agent 004, the same could have and still is said about Lexus back in 1991. Everything that is said about Hyundai now, was said back then. You did group Lexus in the batch of vehicles that I would assume have original design elements?

In 1990 when Toyota came out with Lexus, Toyotas were already recognized as the most reliable cars, they already introduced some innovations, they worked for their reputation for decades. And this Toyota reputation was mostly responsible for Lexus success. Lexus (Toyota) set a benchmark in quality and reliability. Hyundai hasn't a reputation for anything (e.g. performance, styling, reliability, ...), Hyundai is completely "price-based" company without any engineering achievements. That's the difference. But I must say that on the design department they're (Hyundai Genesis now and Lexus LS430 beck then) the same copycats, on the other hand Acura and Infinity designs were much more original.

And here's link to comparison test of Lexus ls400 and competitors from 1990:

You were aware back in 1990, how most could not believe that Toyota would compare their vehicles with the likes of MB or BMW. I remembered. My brother purchased a Lexus LS400, and caught crap from many about paying $35k for an overpriced "Toyota." Back then, he would take his Lexus to the Toyota dealership in Oklahoma. I know we as American's have short memories though. True, Toyota did have the quality crown, but didn't have, for the longest time, equality with premier brands.

Miuccia has a propensity from time to time for doing things simply because they are unfashionable. I do not view a Hyundai as befitting of her (grandfather's) label, but doubt that it will have any impact on my or other's desire for Prada.

Innovation comes from opportunity or plan inspiration. Hyundai Genesis is new on the scene and has legs. Prada can see past the "past." In other parts of the world, Hyundai doesn't have the same stigma it has in the states, and I think we have a myopic view of the brand. Asia and other parts of the world love premiere brands, and to link them with a new face could be beneficial in the long run.

Totally Agent63 and to do a Prada Edition its second year out, well that on par with Lexus Coach Edition, just more pasache. The Genesis has catapulted Hyundai's image up in short order. Many will not want to agree, but that doesn't make it less true. A report states that the top model cross shopped was the BMW 5 Series.

This car and Hyundai in general continues to amaze me. After recently driving the car, I can confirm that all the hype and buzz is true, it's really a fantastic automobile.

i can't believe a respected high-end brand like Prada would tarnish their upscale, fashionable image by associating their name with Hyundai. Who wants to buy $600 dollar 'Hyundai' loafers??? It's disgusting. I think that Pay-Less shoes would be more appropriate fashion attire for a Hyundai. What's the world coming to?

Exactly. My thoughts completely. Prada is really slumming it to be in bed with Hyundai. Payless is still too high of a water mark, it's more like 99 cent stores.

i have to say, back in 1999 i would've never saw this one coming. congratulations to hyundai on a nice looking car.
