Brawn GP does it again and wins the Malaysian Grand Prix
It seems that Brawn GP found the solution in becoming the perfect F1 team, until now of course. As you may know already, today Malaysia hosted the second race in the F1 Championship at Sepang. It was an interesting race but due to the bad weather it had to be stopped in the 22nd lap due to the heavy rain.

This lap found Jenson Button in the first place and made Brawn GP the happiest team with two victories in the first two races of the F1 championship. Maybe some of you will not agree with this, but a victory remains a victory and as Vin Diesel said in the first Fast and Furious movie: “It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning’s winning.”

Poor Honda, their car wins places 1-2 every race but their name doesn't show up.

Hope no one will make Harakiri there.

The car's development was actually supervised by Ross Brawn, who now owns the team... Honda used to make the engines. Now they run Mercedes-Benz engines and gearboxes.

Mercedes, as a carmaker, is only financing construction of these engines, they're engineered by Britons who have always ruled in F1(together with Ferrari):

"Although Mercedes is stamped on the engine covers, they are in fact manufactured in Brixworth, Northamptonshire, England by Ilmor Engineering Limited. Who are the gray men from Brixworth? Ewan Tytler tells their story"

http://atlasf1.autosport.com/2001/jan03/tytler.html

And these days engines aren't as important as aerodynamics, it can be clearly seen on Force India and Ferrari example from previous season, both were powered by Ferrari engines.

formula666, according to Ross Brown they have their own gearboxes:

"It is our own gearbox. We converted the gearbox to mount on the Mercedes-Benz engine because all the rear suspension, we wanted to carry that over."

TurboSpyder, I don't know much about the Acura ALMS team(what's wrong with them btw?).
I'm not saying that it's wrong what Mercedes is doing, it's very cleaver marketing I must say, many carmakers are doing like that these days, it's only that "Mercedes-Benz" F1 engines has nothing in common from engineering standpoing with Mercedes-Benz as a carmaker. "Mercdes-Benz" F1 engines have been done by external motor sport engineering company.

yeah. Honda must be kicking themselves now. The car is fully Honda's even till now Honda is involved as they promised to give some financial help and other services for the first 3 or 4 races.
A Big bad luck for Honda. And Great luck for Brawn.

Brawn knew that to be competitive he had to get rid of the Honda engine. Smart move.

I hope Brawn's cars remain competitive after the big boys get their own rule stretching diffusers in place.

He'll have to buy stock in BRAWNY paper towels by the end of the season to wipe his tears. He won't win the championship this year.

@abcd
It's 2009 not 2001...you should join us

"Daimler-Benz acquired Chevrolet's 25% share of Ilmor in 1993. In 2002 Daimler AG increased its share to 55% and renamed the company Mercedes-Ilmor. In 2005 Daimler became the sole owner of Ilmor and renamed the company Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines Ltd."

The current Brawn chassis has been in development longer than any other team on the grid. The Honda F1 engine was a POS. It was underpowered by 80hp and unreliable. Now that they have a great Mercedes-Benz engine + a great chassis it will be hard to catch up to them.

Yee, nice wikipedia copy. And so that they bought and renamed the company, it's still the same company based in England specializing in motor sport engineering. You probably think that Tata is now building and engineering Jaguars and Land Rovers, and since Lotus is owned by Proton I guess new Lotus Evora isn't Lotus car at all. I wonder from where you know that the Honda engine was underpowered by 80hp?
