Volkswagen Poised To Surpass GM as Number 2 Automaker This Year
It was just a few short years ago that automotive and business reporters were swallowing hard and writing that Toyota might overtake General Motors as the world's No. 1 automaker. It didn't take long for that to happen. Toyota officially took the title in April 2007 and now, coming up fast is Volkswagen.

Market research company R. L. Polk Germany today predicted that Volkswagen will take over the No. 2 spot this year, leaving GM to eat its dust.

I find this amusing for VW to be poised to come out and surpass GM as No.2 Global Production. But remember Toyota and GM has shown their levels of capabilities of how much they both can really sell. As for VW, to be at that level would have taken them years upon years to catch up, as VW has admitted in the past. Now they go for the low blow, and capatalized in a area where the economy is down. It's like punching a blind guy in the face, and knowing what the result will be...quite the low blow from VW...great cars...but not the greatest!!!

VW still builds unreliable cars, even at their current rate of production. Let them ramp up their production to Toyota's status and watch them fold like a cheap tent!
