that's the ZDX? Seriously? It looks like a jacked up Prius. I feel like I got ripped off by those teaser photos, they looked 10x better than the real thing. Tell Acura to build the car they hinted at in those teaser photos instead.

If that is the ZDX, it is a huge disappointment.

it is somewhat of a letdown.
btw, how tall is this car? it looks like a sedan from the picture, assuming the front end is the same dimension as current gen TL.

004 mentioned to me upon closer examination of the photos that it looks like it will sport suicide doors...looks like that to me as well.

I agree but I'd like a closer look at its C-pillar. That "beak" design-language has really become a part of the Acura brand.

In other news, the Lexus IS-C has more wheel gap than the X6 M. Why, oh why?

I bet the handle has simply been hidden in the C-pillar.

Walter de'Silva started using this nice design trick when working for Alfa Romeo, then he employed it in Seat Leon. I think it's a great idea.

Tiny rear doors look impractical. It won't be comfortable to get in and out.

Quick, twice in one post, Bratwurst knows design. Dude, you are scaring me. A body snatcher or someone is pretending, what is it? I can't continue agreeing with you like this...

The handle is indeed in the C-Pillar and entry is fine hip-point wise, but larger adults need to be careful to duck getting in and out.

The Acura X6 clone does look good. The shield grill on loan need to go back to Captain America, otherwise, it will have better gas mileage that the LARGE carbon footprint left by the X6 and other luxury Euro models (yes, I'm now on the carbon footprint kick. I think it very hypocritical to judge other models but not hold premier vehicles and brands to the same standard)

I personally don't have an issue on who do what with their money. I can't stand those who judge large SUV's as being way more of an destroyer of the environment, but can overlook prestige vehicles. That is my point. And no one can justify their choice for a vehicle like the 7 Series, X5, X6 or even a Q7. Very hypocritical.

BSBB, stop posting your BB-BullShit.

Considering carbon footprint instead of miles per gallon is the only acceptable way when comparing fuel economy of vehicles fed with various fuels (gasoline and diesel, for instance).

Diesel fuel has higher volumetric energy density (more chemical energy in one gallon) than gasoline and requires significantly more crude oil to make. Energy is released by burning hydrocarbons contained in fuel which then turn into water vapors and CO2. By comparing the aforementioned emissions (carbon footprint) you can precisely state how much energy a vehicle need to cover given distance.

Thus fuel consumption should be measured in grams CO2 per kilometer/mile or something analogous.

If both cars run on the same carbon-derived propellant, then obviously carbon footprint is directly proportional to fuel consumption and both those indicators can be used.

--------------

Regarding global warming, BSBB, please just say nothing. That it is man made is now a consensus among scientists and very few of them say THEY DON'T KNOW what is the key driver. No scientist has ever proved global warming is not man made.

And since you can't predict weather in the next 3 hours by staring at the sky, don't comment about global warming. Especially if you provide no serious references.

--------------

About the cars...

- Lexus convertible side clearly contains lines of SC430 but overall they could have made it looking better
- this new Acura looks fine but I expected more after seeing teasers
- the Mercedes coupe has seriously Korean rear

Was hoping the ZDX would look really great but now I'm let down. It does look cleaner than the X6 though. Not really in the market for this anyways but neither would I consider the X6. Why are manufacturers going after this market?

The rear is far too bulbous and fat. The G37 and 335i convertibles own the IS convertible styling wise (and presumabely performance wise as well).

I'll wait til the ride and drive to pass judgement on that ZDX. Personally, I like the aggressive front end and think the TL could have used a little more of that look (since all Acuras are coming with the god-awful power plenum grill). Should come with some very good technology, cause if not, it's dead in the water (assuming rumors are true that it will be more $ than the MDX).

V-10 NSX..(still hoping)

"The X6 M is a great looking car in person."

said the guy who hasn't seen one in person himself since no one outside of BMW or the automotive press has.

"Go test drive one."

We'll get right on that... in seven months, when it comes out.

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I love BMW M cars, but that X6M is an overweight waste of resources and looks nasty to boot.

Its 80's garish and those oversized front bumpers look like something from Fast and the Furious.

There is so much wheel gap that driving with a clamp on any of the wheels must have been part of the design criteria.

It's cleary not intended to go off road either judging by the depth of the car sides. I wonder is it any coincedence that now that Bangle is gone this abortion comes to exist?

Love the S5 cabrio and R10! :)

"It's cleary not intended to go off road either judging by the depth of the car sides."

Seriously? Yes, it was clearly not intended to go offroad, and no offense but judging an M for its ability to go rock climbing is pretty stupid. You don't buy an X6 to go off roading in the first place, and you certainly don't get the 555hp $100k version of the car. That's like arguing that your Formula 1 car gets bad gas mileage or rides stiff. You'd be right, but it's a meaningless argument.

The Lexus does not look that good with the top up. Shame. Looks like it is yet another hardtop convertible that only looks good with the top down. The E-Class coupe looks surprisingly good from the rear in red. The rear on both the Coupe (as well as the not-completely pillar-less windows) and the Sedan are still somewhat of a letdown.

Acura can't do no worst w/ the ZDX that design is horrible in my opinion, but knowing Honda/Acura this car will have lots of features and a good looking/quality interior. For the Lexus IS converitbile, how did this car come out looking like this, it looks horrible considering that the sedan and IS-F looks good, it looks like it was half-a$$ed designed, this car looks like the Toyota Paseo convertible from the mid-late 90's.

The ZDX is an ugly design. Once again Acura has fumbled. At first I did not realize that this was supposed to be a coupe/crossover.However it is still ugly as a crossover. I think Acura needs a new stylist and quick!

You are definitely correct about their designs anymore; We got that crappy front end shield stuff going on. I say fire the entire design team. What's is up with the beak front end again?

001,

My advice to Honda/Acura and to the NY Auto Show management would be to heed the advice of Shakespeare: "Don't shoot the messenger". (Henry IV, Part 2)

Their decision to evict you can also be best summarized by Shakespeare - "Much Ado About Nothing".

Seriously, what is so exciting about Acura's answer to the X6? Granted, the ZDX's lines are sleeker than the X6's - but that isn't saying much. And the less said about that beak the better.

I've yet to figure out all the hubbub about the X6 in the first place. If BMW wanted to build a better-performing SUV, it should have put all those performance goodies in the X5 body. Purchasers of this super-X5 would get more cargo capacity and rear-seat headroom than in the X6. Besides, the X6 doesn't look any better than the X5 anyway.

I think the rear of the red Mercedes looks a lot like the rear of that new Kia 2 door concept, the KOUP. Dunno if that's a compliment to Kia or an insult to Mercedes.
