Chinese Auto Sales Top US Market For 3rd Month In A Row

Preliminary figures show auto sales in China reached about 1.03 million in March, exceeding U.S. sales for the third month in a row, state media reports said Wednesday.

Data from 14 major auto makers, accounting for roughly 90 percent of total sales, totaled 1.026 million, the Shanghai Securities News and other state-run newspapers said, citing Chen Bin, head of the Department of Industry at China's main economic planning agency.

Full industry data due to be released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers in coming days could push March auto sales in China, the world's second-largest auto market, to a monthly record, the reports said.

China's industrywide auto sales in March 2008 totaled 1.06 million, it said.

No way, do they even pass crash testing? Not that they can't, but we have to regulate carefully.

America has more cars currently in service and China has way more people and American market is depressed = no big surprise.

The USA could never do that, China holds most of the US's debt. Don't get me wrong however, there are great products being produced in America (there is a reason why Sears will never sell Chinese manufactured anything). But with over 3 times the population of the USA the only thing that has been holding China off until now was a very old population... when/if the old people die off and China becomes young again things will change...all can do is hope that it's for the better.

I agree.
Chinese was never really communist in the bone. Communism, especially now, is just a shell.

Joe:

America owns most of America's debt.....last I checked, foreign nations owned about 1/3 of US debt, although unfortunately that has been rising lately with this current administration's spending spree.

China and Japan own the majority of that foreign debt.....with the exception of Japan, do you actually think China likes America? If they could pull their money out now, don't you think they would just to undermind our system? What is stopping them? Fact is, China needs us A LOT more then we need them. Will that change in the near future? No Will that ever change? Yes

Even at nearly 0% return, foreign governments and investors are still flocking to buy our treasuries. Why? Because it is still the SAFEST investment in the world. Why? Because we have the STRONGEST military in the world. See the connection?

So how prevalent is the out-dated concept that everything Chinese is crap? Sure, we have to deal with a lot of what we call C3 ("C" cubed) products == Cheap Chinese Crap. But that doesn't mean everything is bad. Look at machine tooling. In the past, all the best stuff came from Germany. Now all machinery (lathes, milling machines, etc.) comes from China ... from the worst to the world's best.
Same with your electronics.
All the name-brand Japanese products come from China.
Take a company like Brio Tech as an example. They've built every Panasonic DVD player ever produced. They've won quality awards as Panasonic's best CM. Motorola cell-phones (no longer #1 in USA ... beat out by Samsung recently) and Apple's iPhone are all made in China.
Just like stuff made in Japan, USA, or Mexico, there's the good, the bad, and the ugly. But in China its not all ugly anymore!

What do the following achievements have in common?

Tainted drywall
toxic baby toys
tainted animal feed
contaminated toothpaste
hazardous high-chairs
infant formula contaminated with melamine
polluted animal feed
asbestos-tainted talc
counterfeit products of virtually everything
brutally slicing and peeling the skin off of live dogs and cats for fur

YES! You are correct! They are all current Chinese accomplishments.

Roboto, and what was China known for centuries ago? What do you think they are trying to regain today? Do you know how many things we owe to the Chinese for inventing and discovering? FYI, for the past ten centuries, China has had the largest GDP for nine of them. The US had the 20th century, guess who's going to be the biggest in the 21st? We need to be prepared. They are a force to be reckoned with and unless we start educating ourselves and our children and being smarter then we risk being bowled over and left in their wake. We are so complacent here and our general view is that it will never happen, look at how we viewed the Japanese when they first came to market? Where are they now? I'm all for any nation improving their situation, I just want to make sure that we are there as well.

Um, if you had over three times the population and a economy on the way up, would you really be surprised at the above mentioned statistic... Great post!

Think through your ideas for a few more years before you post, please. You make these two claims in the very same paragraph that simply cannot logically exist together: "Remember, an unjust system cant stand!!" AND "China will become the dominant people". China is as unjust as they come and you claim the will not only stand, but actually become dominant? So which is it?

Your incredibly oversimplified history lessons are not compelling. Take off the 'victim' lenses for a while.

I wish I could understand what you were trying to say and that it had anything at all to do with my post. But, I can't and it doesn't..... (BTW, there was no patriotism in my post at all, where did you get that?)

You make such incredible claims without any support for them at all.

Look at this! hyundaismoke can tell the FUTURE!!! Amazing:

" Yes, politics in 50 years will be analogous to professional sports today filled to the brim with Blacks, and when that happens there will be unparallelled peace and prosperity for all races in America."

"They [Chinese}were the dominant people in the world once, and they will become the dominant people in the world again."
