Honda Ridgeline swimming like a rock

Just like we predicted before it launched, the Honda Ridgeline is really taking gas for Honda.

For all of the Honda executives wondering why it isn't hitting its targets you can all lie to yourself and think it is because of gas prices, blah, blah, blah...

But the reason is incredibly simple- IT'S REALLY UGLY!!!

From Bloomberg:

Honda is cutting production of its new Ridgeline pickup truck next quarter by 3,000 units in Canada as inventory has risen to more than 100 days, while it can not meet demand for the redesigned Civic compact, said Executive Vice President Satoshi Aoki yesterday in Tokyo.

The Ridgeline is an example of a well-engineered product that has some serious flaws. Specifically, and obviously, the bed should have been a conventional bed that has proven successful and popular for generations, instead of those ridiculous and ugly sloping sides. Additionally, truck buyers demand a powerful statement for the front grill and front appearance. The Ridgeline's front appearance is simply too weak for a truck. The price should have initially been very aggressive in order to gain market share, instead of over-pricing it. Otherwise, to be fair, much of the vehicle is smart. And that's a true shame, because, unfortunately for Honda this time, fatal flaws always kill.
