You'll likely not receive any comments on this story since the car in question is not an Audi or BMW, and most posters on Autospies are vehemently anti-Japanese. Congrats John, you're the man. By the way, still waiting for someone to post the fact that the GT-R is the 2009 world performance car of the year.

As long as the people who are willing to accept that the GT-R won 2009 Performance Car of the Year, it's all that matters. FYI they only spent $1,500 in parts to replace the faulty gear and enhance the strength at the same time. http://www.gtrblog.com/2009/04/12/nissan-gt-r-quarter-mile-record/ I wonder how much the new 1st gear can hold up?

Let's put it this way...in a race where my life depended on winning...I would choose the GT-R...only because of the electronic and computerized driving aids would make better use of the car's capabilities and give me the best advantage. For a race of sheer fun and excitement...where it's all about driving and the skill you came with...I would drive something else! The GT-R is a great car if all you want to do is win...but if you want to win AND show some driving skill...then an ordinary rear wheel drive car is probably your thing! Late the hate begin!

It is true most of the posters on autospies are anti-japanese. But let them hate on the GTR because they know it can kick the ass of 99.9% of all german cars!

Are you guys done with your GT-R circle jerk?
It is a great car, but it isn't the end all, be all.

The GT-R race car takes everything that's good and turns it up to hardcore mode.
Same goes for Porsche's and all the teams out there. Any race car out on the circuit in a league like that is phenomenal. That we can all agree on.

Yep! I agree the GT-R is amazing, performance wise, but, it is also amazingly ugly from the front and hood areas. One last point...IT'S NOT A DURABLE PRODUCT and once again an offering from the Nissan camp.

I have 1 qestion. Was the run a legit one or did he not trip the lights before they went green? It is a very fast time, but next time wait til it goes green before you leave. It was not a legal run, therefore it doesnt count.

I think that Nissan out did themselves on this one. I agree, Nissans Godzilla is an amazing car. With the cost and the performance on that Beast it would probably make Porsche lovers think twice.
