2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class receives 50,000 pre-orders

It seems that the 2010 model will definitely follow the same path because Mercedes-Benz announced that almost 50,000 pre-orders have been received for the new sedan

"Then why did Jeremy Clarkson say that Lexus competes with Rolls Royce and Bentley and Toyota with Mercedes? Answer that please."

He mentioned the Rolls Royce and Lexus thing because of the LS seats (which we all know were inspired by the Maybach). Just because he mentioned it in the same sentence as Rolls Royce and Bentley doesn't mean it actually is. The LS is still nothing compared to an S in style, curb appeal, and prestige so stick your head out of the gutter because the S-Class is the marquee name plate when you think of a full size luxury sedan. The MB symbol is known worldwide, not Lexus.

I am in the midst of getting rid of my LS460 while still keeping the S. With the residual value left from the Lexus I may wait and pick up an RS5.

david969: It is realy bad to be seated in your brain, that won´t allow you to think. New E class is by far a better car than the GS and inside it looks exclusive, specialy with the ambient light, (that we all know toyota will copy very soon) and they already have hybrids but BLUTEC is a way better. E350 is for people that does not need power but economy, if you some body needs power they will buy the E63 cause there is no GS in that league and If it comes, it will be for the people that can not afford the E63...Talk when Lexus "alone" reach the size of BMW, AUDI or MB. For now, Lexus is just another toyota in same way as Buick is a GM. Lexus is great, I am not Blind as you are, but still below the MB.

When and where in the ham-sandwich did Jeremy Clarkson say that?!?!? Please tell me (if that comment holds any truth). If so, he is a bigger *sshole than I thought.

really like the front - very aggressive styling...

not a big fan of the rear... reminds me of a hyundai for some reason.

"The taillights on the new E Class are a disappointment."

Really? EVERY single E-Class generation has had a bland rear and simple taillights. What's the problem?

Come to think of it, every car in this class has a bland rear.

That doesnt mean we should have to put up with it!!! On the flip side, you should check out the new E-Class taillights at night. Their signature makes them look better.

It's looking better and better each and every time I see it. It has definitely grown on me.

Looks nothing like a Lexus GS. It only looks like one for those Toyota fanboys who actually believes what they see. Difference between reality and dreams.

This one looks a hell of a lot better than the last version. The last version was sooooooo old ladyish. Ive personally always been a E Klasse fan (except for the past few years). Now, I think I'm back. Still don't like the C (girlish)

Interesting. UAW1 was so happy with the 14k preorders of the Camaro and now the Mercedes E class destroys it with 50k and the fact that it costs more than twice as much than a fully loaded camaro.

It is a great-looking sedan with great safety and technology features that make it the mid-size luxury sedan to aspire to.
