BMW 6 Series GT is becoming a reality

We have just finished publishing an article with the latest details on the new 2010 BMW 6 Series and we are back with more exciting information. An additional model will be added to the 6 Series line-up and it will take the shape of a GT car. The Progressive vehicle will be a premium sports car with four door, a coupe shape, but NOT your typical sedan.

The 6 GT will be a “progression” of a sports coupe vehicle and it will be the first BMW coupe with a hatchback and four doors. It will be a four seater only model, each passenger position and the driver are separated with a large sweeping console.

Exterior wise, the BMW 6 Series GT will have a different look when compared to the 6er Coupe and Convertible with a wider grille and headlights which sit above the grille positioned on each corner , similar to the current car from the CS Concept Car.

The difference being that they will not call it a Coupe (because it is NOT one!!)

so they're going to have a 5-Series GT, which is a hatchback with four or five seats (customer choice option), AND they're going to have a 6-Series GT with a hatchback and four seats?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Ditto. I found that to be a waste of resources on Bimmer's part to make a move like this.

(Then again, BMW is far from a struggling brand. Maybe they can afford to "GT" every single model they produce!)

BMW is already making a Panamera-type vehicle, it's called the 5-Series GT. Four doors? Check. Rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive? Check. Rear seats that move back and forth? Check. Hatchback? Check. I don't see why they'd make a 6-Series version of it too (though I do remember those photoshops of a four door M6 back when people were trying to guess what the X6 was going to look like that I always thought looked cool).

I believe they mean the hatchback will probably resemble something like the Jag XK's hatchback as opposed to the Panamera's.
