SHANGHAI MOTOR SHOW: Is The Bertone Mantide Cutting Edge Or Bleeding Edge?

SHANGHAI MOTOR SHOW: Is The Bertone Mantide Cutting Edge Or Bleeding Edge?
Every show has that one stand out.   Perhaps the one generating the most hype in Shanghai so far is the Bertone Mantide.

Based on the Chevrolet ZR1 Corvette, the Italian designer Bertone has created yet another masterpiece of design that not only packs a punch but  looks good doing it!

Go through the 2009 Auto Shanghai Photo Gallery and look at these few shots below and tell us if this polarizing concept is a STUD or a DUD!

I actually really like it. Sure it's over the top, but that is the point.

I hope that the rear end is eventually able to pinch that loaf.

Its cool if you're talking about your 5 yr old's new hotwheels car. Seriously, there may be a few small design themes that could be softened and then integrated into a modern design, but as a whole its just way to over-the-top.

Looks like Frankensteins car - a piece from everywhere and nothing really fits. A designer must never forget that good taste and balance of proportions shall prevail over the desire to provoke! Poor Bertone, when nobody stops such madness!

Stylishly amazing machine. From an artistic standpoint the lines of this car couldn't tell a better story about the current state of automobiles. I am happy cars like this are designed.
