2011 Hyundai Sonata: Looking Sharp

2011 Hyundai Sonata: Looking Sharp
This time last year when I heard that there was going to be a new, redisigned Sonata for the 2011 MY, I got excited. So excited that I started cranking out renderings of what I thought the Sonata should look like. Then when I heard that it was going to take the theme of a "four-door-coupe" I got even more excited. Well, I have here what looks to be another rendering of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata.

I found this rendering on YFlove.net, and also found an interior shot of the center stack. These few pictures are really making me smile.

What do you make of the rendering? Do you think that it will have this general design?

Exterior looks strikingly good.. If that is the interior that 001 says - it should be good enough - coz its simple and good - rather than the genesis kinda stack - which has a gazillion buttons .. Hyundai seems to be going places with the designs off-late.. No comments about the quality 'yet' ;-)

I'm curious about that seated human icon in the dash stack. Looks interesting. The exterior rendering looks like pure speculation. There is good and not so good about. I'm thinking Hyundai may come out strong with this car though. Light years better than the original late 80's Sonata.

Hyundai is not replacing the Azera. Once the Genesis becomes a luxury brand in 2012, the Azera will act as Hyundai's flagship and be redesigned for the 2012 MY.

Im going to the Cleveland Institute of Art starting in September. Are you looking towards designing?

Thats all I wanted to do and did growing up! I have thousands of car drawings/designs I have done from 9 years old until now (still dont know why I hang on to them)! I do it for sport now. I know of Hyundai-blog.

And the last i heard Hyundai was considering a luxo brand. But maybe they just recently changed it.

But i use YFlove for new pics of the sonata, hyundai-blog.com, thecarblogger.net, and other general car websites.

Hyundai really is adding alot more to theyre name arent they? The will have the accent, elantra, elantra touring, tiburon/veloster, sonata, sonata touring/cuv, genesis coupe, azera, genesis sedan, portico, tucson, santa fe, and the sonata Hybrid in 2012. thats 13 vehicles for a MY, thats alot. but i like it. They hae something for everyone.

I also read somewhere that Hyundai was THINKING about possibly making the sonata into a convertible also, like the solora. But i havent heard of anything like that as of late so i think that idea has been squashed .

So the sonata is going to debut next month? Which auto show?

I didn't intend to get into a discussion about sexual preferences, let's not veer off into distasteful and innapropriate things.

these are just major trends that I'm noticing now: people liking hyundais, the spread of aethism, and dudes trying to marry each other. To each his own, but I will have nothing to do with these things.

it seems that my opinion is becoming more unpopular in the world, but that does not matter to me - it is a sick, sad world. I was making a general statement to illustrate this point. We're talking cars. Why bring up race? But since you did, your half-baked analogy is way off. Hyundai is a manufacturer from Korea that hasn't been even building cars for 50 years... You can't compare black people to a car brand - black people are more like the wheel, without which no car would exist. the black man is the original man.

Science tells us that all humans descend from a common Black ancestor. The Bible tells us that the first man was created in God's image. From this, you should infer that God is black, and that if you are not black, then you have somehow mutated from the creator's original design.

See, I can spout offensive crackpot theories tenuously rooted in unrelated facts too! How does it feel to be on the other side?

Noah's son Ham... I believe that comes from the Klan's interpretation of the Bible. They have no need for science and archaeology, so that's probably why they can ignore the fact that the first humans were black.

I like the idea of the character line flowing from the front wheel and through the door handles. I think it suggests the idea of harnessing power, similar to how old cars would have the front wheel-arch flow down into the running board. One thing I don't like about the character line, here, is that it makes the front fender look large and bulbous.

I'm black too, but i don't feel the need to talk about it on car websites. The reason why many people are hating Obama right now is because of the immature gloating of many black people like you. The President is black. And white. It's over, let's move on. Let's not talk about race anymore.

Obama's election makes it obvious to me that we have entered the time that if you are good enough and dedicated enough, with some luck, you can achieve anything in America, regardless of your race. If negroes remain focused on the same old obsolescent racial politics, then there will be a white backlash, more division, we will move backwards, and this progress will be wasted.

Let's kill the black and white talk. Let's talk about making America great for Americans. Otherwise, everyone loses.

That pinched character line seems a bit superfluous, but could have been better if it paralled the car's beltline a bit more. The greenhouse seems lifted from Audi, while the rear seems reminiscent of the last-generation ES. You know, the one with the 'swoopy' headlight theme.

The exterior is 10 times better than the outgoing model and if that's the interior of the new gen. then Hyundai is making strides forward. They are now a brand that demands some respect and is almost on par with the likes of Honda, Toyota and Nissan, if not better. With the Genesis and upcoming Equus it can place them right in between economy-premium, a niche market that has yet to be filled by anyone really.

I lived in Korea and it was awesome to see many of the cars that we don't have here

If you don't believe me, call up Hyundai HQ in Seoul, or visit Korean car fan websites. Every Korean who are interested in cars know this is the test version of the Genesis. You would be laughed at if you say that photo is the new Azera (Grandeur). That photo is ancient in Korea. I'm not joking.
