GM talking to Toyota to build another shared model, Pontiac Vibe replacement
GM CEO Fritz Henderson made it pretty clear that no Pontiac will be rebadged as a Chevrolet after announcing that the automaker will phase out Pontiac at the end of 2010. However, Henderson said that the Pontiac Vibe could be built well into 2010 and that GM is in negotiation with its New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. partner (NUMMI) - Toyota.

According to Pontiac spokesman Jim Hopson, GM is in talks with Toyota to produce a new model for one of the surviving brands including Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac...

Being a former Matrix XRS owner (first gen), I prefer the Vibe styling on this gen. It looks like it was designed more to be the Vibe than the Matrix. Toyota should incorporate the Pontiac styling in its mid-cycle refresh (mainly the greenhouse).

But what could they produce for GM at NUMMI. NUMMI produces Vibes, Corollas, and Tacomas. They've nixed a Chevy Vibe, a Corolla knockoff (Prizm) would compete too directly with Chevy's own Cobalt.

Can we say Colorado replacement, based off the Tacoma....hmmmm...

GM trucks are lightyears above Toyotas maybe a TUndra based of the Silverado.
