Toyota Recalls 2008 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid
"Due to improper heat treatment, the original clamp used to secure the stainless-steel exhaust tip to the exhaust pipe may develop microscopic cracks," said Toyota Motor Sales USA in a statement. "If this occurs, the crack may expand, causing the clamp to break, and in the worst case, the exhaust tip may fall off."

They are trying to do to much to fast and now their quality is beginning to suffer. How many cars does this make for toyota recalls so far this year? This brings a smile to my face!

They are far of being the most reliable car in the past 2 years...

Cause Toyotas are not the most reliable. However, they're still holding strong. Don't judge by few cases of news related to few dozens of cars. Exhaust tip falling off? Come on.

Well, that still means that Toyotas qualitiy management failed?

"...may develop microscopic cracks"

meaning, cracks NOT VISIBLE except under a microscope.

big deal. GM's "Iron Duke" engine came from the foundry with hairline cracks IN THE HEAD castings. some 40% of 'em for a while, but GM refused to halt production 'cuz the Fieros they were going into were selling so well. they figured they'd just have dealers fix 'em under warranty AS THEY FAILED. not like toyota, which does PRE-EMPTIVE recalls.

any wonder that GM is on the brink of bankruptcy, while toyota enjoys the HIGHEST reputation for quality and reliability?

RE: "not like Toyota, which does PRE-EMPTIVE recalls"
Yes, its nice to see Toyota finally doing recalls for defects.
But for decades they hid their defects under the veil of "Toyota Quality", even when it included serious safety issues, such as defective master cylinders (Camry).

Everyone knows Toyota makes a quality product.
Its the lies (including lack of recalls) under the pretense of offering a perfect product (which nobody makes, and anyone claiming to build a perfect product of any type is a liar) that turn folks off.
Its the chest-thumping claims of perfection that turned so many people against Toyota, especially automotive enthusiasts who don't buy into the TV marketing as gospel truth.

It does'nt matter what is going on with Toyota or Lexus they will always be tha best of the best. That's right bring it on because GM is now owned by Obama and his clan. Who knows maybe Toyota will purchase the Corvette and CTS-V for a small profit. A Buick and a Jaguar better than a Toyota and Lexus ha ha ha I'll be laughing all year long. Stop making your selfs look stupid.

huu -- its not just dull. Its flacid handling.
Lexus has replaced Buick as the mark of an octagenarian.
Toyota builds appliances for people who don't like cars.
Enthusiasts aren't excited by above-average reliability from a below-average driving experience.
