Here are some early photos of the BMW 'Vibe', rolling into Santa Barbara today in preparation of tomorrow's BimmerFest 2009 show.

Every weekend in Southern California is a gift but especially THIS weekend, because the super fun BimmerFest show is on in Santa Barbara, Saturday.

Agent 001 will be in Santa Barbara with thousands of BMW enthusiasts from around the world, as they show their off their BMW's.

How do you mean? It isn't like the GTR and the BMW perform in the same categories. If you mean all out performance, then yeah, I'd agree the GTR is a better performer. If you mean interior quality, then no, the GTR falls short. If you mean ride quality, then no, the GTR is compromised due to it's high performance. Ergonomics would have to go to the GTR, because I hate the iDrive in my 3 series to death. I also don't feel that the styling on the GTR is that impressive. This is only subjective, but I feel a lot of people share my view on this. I think that it's a little premature to say that the GTR is so much better than anything BMW has ever put out. Performance isn't everything. Also, the GTR isn't even close to as successful as BMW in motorsports. The E30 is considered by many the most successful automobile of all time in auto racing. The GTR line has done well, but not this new GTR, and it certainly doesn't do it in Global competition like the BMW does. Take the awd and computer controls from the GTR, and it starts to suffer.

I like BMW's and all but i dont get what the purpose of this is. It looks like most of these people just have older BMWs or new ones that are stock. Something I can see at the dealership any day of the week. Or am I missing something here?

You guys are funny. Are the Lexus people just jealous because no one cares enough about the cars to be passionate about them? No! Lexus are boring. Yes, I do agree with the dorks in the stock BMW's, but a lot of them are modded and it is cool to see how people express their style with their cars.
Porsche has gatherings, Jeep drivers have gathering, Corvette drivers and BMW drivers all are passionate. NO japanese auto maker has a Fest to celebrate the passion of their cars. They may have Hot Import Nights, but it is a mix of brands, not just one.
