Audi A5 Sportback coming to the Frankfurt Motor Show

Audi A5 Sportback coming to the Frankfurt Motor Show
The latest brand new A5 Sportback will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. It will then hit markets and be available for sale by the end of this year together with the high-performing RS variant of the standard A5 Coupe.

From the available spy photo taken of the A5 Sportback prototype it can be observed that the car will come with a high waistline but with a lower top end. The front face appears to be similar to the A5 Coupe on which it is patterned. Although it is designed like the 4-door coupe its spacious compartment, high silhouette, and sloping hatchback style door at the rear clearly puts the Sportback in its own distinct class. FWD will remain in the base model, however, AWD versions will come with the latest quattro torque vectoring systems, which supplies drive to individual axles and between the rear wheel for enhanced stability and traction. The car will be powered by similar engine lineup with the A5, like the 4.2-liter FSI V8 which is said to come with the RS5, the model at the top of the range.

It will only interfere with A4 sales. But i think it's not too unnecessary as the new A4 has grown too big. It's almost the size of A6 therefore it looks less sporty when compared to more compact looking 3 series and IS. New A5/A4 sportback would compete those two more directly, that's what i think. And A4 will target C class and CTS customers.

the A4 premium looks less sporty but the S line looks hot and the S4 will rock

To me, Audi and BMW are getting out of hand with these cars. I like it better a few years ago before SUV/SAV and all the other variants. Now we have to deal with these tings as well.
