Brawn wins the Spanish Grand Prix
It’s incredible what is happening now in the F1 Championship! Brawn GP, the new entry in the 2009 season won its 4 race today at the Spanish Grand Prix. It seems the new team is unbeatable, leaving Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz way behind. Stars like Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton are currently dominated by the small F1 team who showed that nothing is impossible!

This also proves that F1 is probably 90% about the car.

Maybe in completely equalizing conditions, in the slowness of a rainy winding circuit (like the one in Monaco during a storm) it would be the driver that decides.

Now it is only racing among constructors. The only way to outgun a faster car in the season is to count on its driver having crashes or team making mistakes or suffering from mishaps.

I agree with you 100%. Its all about the car. And Button (a below average driver) winning proves this theory. However, keeping that in mind. There are certain drivers that have more skills than others. Look at Alonso and Hamilton, by far the best two drivers, securing points in underperforming cars. That is when drivers can make a difference.

huu76 has a point. The title is correct "Brawn wins the Spanish GP". JB wouldn't have been able to 4 races this year in a Force-India Mercedes?

Well, its Brawn GP (official name), but they do use Mercedes Engine. Its really like 1/3 driver, 1/3 engine, and 1/3 car. You can have a great driver in a horrible car but great engine (Hamilton), a horrible driver in a good car and good engine (piquet) and all the possible combinations.

No, it's 90% rear diffuser, 5% KERS and 5% HAVING ENOUGH FUEL TO FINISH THE RACE STRONG FERRARI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

huu76, I don't agree. Yes, they use the same engines (Brown may have modified them also) but the F1 car is just as much about aerodynamics and chassis. This is where differences between these teams likely come from.

I don't even want to hear the snickering WHEN Hyundai announces their entrant into F1 in a few years...

Honda has been holding Brawn GP back all these years.

All this Brawn GP would have been Honda. Honda must be kicking themselves. They put 2 year resources and money into this year's car and then sold the team. They surely didn't expect it to be so competitive.

and this engine argument is not right, Today's F1 car is 90% about Aerodynamics, suspension, diffusers, moving wings...etc and engine plays a very small part. So much that FIA is thinking of a standard engine from next year onwards. Cosworth won the tender.
Example Force India-Mercedes and parent company Mclaren-Mercedes too is way behind Brawn-Mercedes.

btw if this continues, Brawn will win championship way before the last race. Good Luck Brawn GP.

Honda must be credited for those wins. The car is 100% Honda funded and designed.

Too bad that a faulty CEO (in the meanwhile he is kickout of Honda) made a bad call on quiting the F1 after developing a new successful F1 car.

I miss the Ferrari vs. McLaren rivalry and I've stopped watching this season completely sadly.

The world is upside down. Ex-Honda team now number 1 and the Red Bull team very competitive. So next year when someone else takes over the Toyota team they will be in the front row. Maybe Eddie Jordan needs to make a comeback?
