GM kills the Cadillac STS-V and Pontiac G6 GXP
In order to streamline its models across its brands GM is getting rid of its poorly performing sports models. Two casualties in the GM streamlining list are the Impala SS version for 2010 and the 2010 Cobalt sedan which the company will no longer be offering.

There will still be two more models in danger of shelving for 2010: the Cadillac STS-V, the high performance version of the STS line, and the Pontiac G6 GXP. Also in the firing line are the Cobalt SS Coupe and HHR SS Panel, but are expected to stay until the end of this year or at least early next year. The sales performance of the 470hp (350kW) Cadillac STS-V was very poor, which many say is due to its enormous $80,000 retail price. To replace the STS-V as the performance flagship for Cadillac will be the more reasonably priced and high performing CTS-V.

With Pontiac gone, isn't killing the G6 GXP already done?

The STS has long been the odd man out when it comes to mid-size luxury sedans.

The STS is a mid size car and the DTS is Caddys full size car.

^^^Incorrect buddy. The STS and DTS are both full size vehicles. One is RWD and one is FWD and a little bigger. The CTS is a midsize vehicle.

Cadillac seems to think that the STS and CTS are both 5-Series and E-Class competitors as evidenced by their respective commericals. The STS is a midsize.

read the article guys... it's only the V version of the STS that will be canceled. Canceling the STS would be stupid since they need a nice bigger CTS to compete with the Germans. But.. not the current one.

So they're killing the G8 along with Pontiac, and they're cancelling the Impala SS... It would be a mistake not to have a $30k performance sedan in the lineup. I hope they are planning to convert the G8 into a Chevy to replace the Impala, with an SS model too. While they're at it, the G8's interior could use an available navigation system and Ipod integration, too.

DTS aka new Deville, marketed for retired 75 year olds who recognize the brand name and only buy american products. CTS is German Opel based, for younger audience, directly aimed to compete with the midsize 5 series,
e-class, a6, lexus gs. There is a Cadillac BTS!! Google it (Europe Only) which targets the 3 series but sales are so poor for Cadillac they were smart enough not to bring it to the US.
