WHAT? 2010 Mercedes E-Class Voted BEST LOOKING Car In The World?

more than a few people i know who's actually seen the car can attest the new E-class looks really good in the flesh.

Perhaps this internet poll was somehow programmatically persuaded.

Everyone knows the Hyundai Genesis is the BEST LOOKING car in the world.

Really? The genesis? Have you seen them in person? It's ok at best, with a simple glance at the car you notice the headlights ruining everything. It was so bad that even after 10 minutes of looking at it I still need to refresh my memory on anything past the messed up head lights.

The new E class is the nicest looking benz to date... well no I take that back the SLR was nicer looking. And as to what car I would choose over this one, the Model S of course! it's brand new and panty dropping gorgeous. (the only 4 door car I have ever wanted to own).

this is the biggest joke ever, have they seen the Korean rear end on this thing, the four door version is fugly from nearly every possible angle aswell, me thinks Mercedes did a dodgy deal with Auto Bild.

Best looking car in the world would probably go to something with an Aston Martin, Jaguar or Lambourghini badge on it!!!!!

I agree with you. The new Alfa Romeo 8c gets my vote as the best looking car in the world today.

Of course it is a GERMAN magazine that is getting GERMAN voters to give their Mercedes this dubious award. Did they get to see the back end that looks like an old Chevy Impala?

Are you kidding.....this is about as striking as a Ford Fusion!... why even a Volkswagen CC looks better than this! A 'trend setter'?...not likely, doesn't look much different than other previous Benz models. Let's see...'AUTOBILD'...a german magazine....'MERCEDES'....a german car....I wonder if there's a connection here? :)

I drive nothing but the E but I am not a fan of pictures of the 2010. Perhaps, will look good in the flesh.

I speak for everyone when I press the Buzzer Button and say "wrong answer Jack". Its just ONE of the most beautiful cars.

- Afghan Huriyaat news - say they voted the US stryker as the least popular vehicle since the dawn of man 'cause it came with air strikes that turned popular folks like the taliban into chedder cheese.
- UAW forever sheet rag - (last edition) says that they voted anything domestic as the best ever since the sun was formed as long as it wasnt from Canada Mexico or S Korea .... and they also turned their nose up at the NUMMI plant...

I'm in the market for a new Mercedes. My S550 has been great but I as I am getting older I also want to try something new and the new E-Class seems like the perfect vehicle for me and my wife. The design strikes me as a blend between the last generation model and the classic W124 and it works well in my opinion. It's a beautiful car and I'll be checking it out at the local dealer next week.

We also have an '08 C350 Sport which is a fine automobile, too. Needless to say we're hooked on Mercedes' products.

NO WAY! even the skoda octavia loks much better. Anyway the tail lights make the car look 2 soft and the headlights look pretty fierce so i think NNNOOOOOOOO WAY!!!

Please don't try to compare Hyundai designs to that of Alfa Romeo. Not even close.

the panel probably consisted of a bunch of middle aged dudes (with shriveled nuts) who would probably cream themselves over the Panamera. The Lamborghini LP-560 gets my vote.

It's a subjective opinion of the readers of a certain magazine. I don't see why people are so outraged by this here. I've seen the E-Class in real life (saw three of them today and have pictures of them) and the car does look very sharp and beautiful (in my opinion). Most beautiful car in the world? I don't know. I would never classify something as "______ in the world". Fact is, in person the W212 E-Class is a very striking car.

No way that's the best looking car in the world. Its not even the best in my city. That honor IMO is the Maserati Quattroporte

I have seen new E class now. A silver 2010 E500 AMG package in a friend's showroom. It is 1 of only 5 available for now in UAE.

The first impression was that the E class has grown bigger. It looked almost ass big as S class. I liked the front end and side profile with typical MB semi circle roofline. The rear just as in photos looked weak and bland. It's totally opposite to the sharp and aggressive front fascia and is more towards the round and conservative side.
I liked the spacious interior, it had 1990's MB feel, very squarish dash board and lots of buttons, it felt very close in both design and feel to C350.

But no way it can be the best looking car in the world. Even MB's own cars like S class, CL and also CLS looks better to me than new E class. In design i would rank it somewhere in middle of it's class with Jaguar XF on top.

I saw both the E sedan and coupe a few days ago at the local dealer during a training session for the area. I'm not wild about the rear "pontoon" fenders (they do look much better in the flesh though), but otherwise, the new sedan is a very modern, good-looking car. The coupe is even better looking and the rear fenders work better on it then the sedan. In both cases the interiors are gorgeous with top-notch materials (however I didn't like the fixed rear headrests in the coupe) and a very well laid out design.
I would purchase either, but especially the coupe.

Also, I believe the Auto Bild article only allowed voting on cars introduced in the past year--so the E-Class is not the best looking car in the world, just the best looking car in its class introduced in the past year.

Agreed, Jaguar is the best looking Sedan and the refreshed S Class does look better but don't forget CL class is a couple and CLS is not a conventional sedan. It is proper to compare cars of the same body style e.g. comparing a Z4 with an S5 is still wrong like I found out today

Ummm not a bad looking car (the coupe), but hellllo... what about the Audi S5 or R8, or LP560-4.

I just got a 997 Carrera S so i am a bit biased towards that as well, however i cant imagine it would be hard to find many people to agree that its better than an E!!!

E class looks good. I like the headlights especially since they copied it from Lexus GS :)

Year after year, Astons have continued to impress me. They are by far one of the best looking cars in the world. They maintain a sense of glass yet still giving that extra performance factor. It's the gentlemen's sports GT.

Aston Martin DBS is on the top of my list. Lamborghini's and Ferrari's are nice but those exotic looks will never go away so its already a given they will top many charts in this category.
