Hollywood's A-List Welcome New 2007 Cadillac Escalade Amongst the Worlds Most Luxurious Brands

The 2007 Cadillac Escalade made its worldwide premiere in Beverly Hills last night at the grand opening of "Escalade on Rodeo." The red carpet rolled out for the week-long celebration where Oscar-winner Adrien Brody hosted the opening night preview party, "Chrome Couture." Guests including Allison Janney, Paris Hilton, Stavros Niarchos, Wilmer Valderrama, DJ AM, Regina King, Chris Kattan, Wolfgang Puck, Virginia Madsen, Jadakiss, Frankie Muniz, Eduardo Verastegui, Anthony Anderson, Billy Morrison, Eddie Griffin, John Salley, Rachel Hunter, Rodney Peete, Styles P and Vida Guerra had an exclusive first look at the 2007 Escalade, the next-generation of the iconic luxury SUV.

"Since its inception, Escalade has been an icon - a luxurious vehicle that discerning customers aspire to own," said Jim Taylor, Cadillac general manager. "It makes perfect sense to debut the 2007 Escalade in Beverly Hills where style, luxury and design all come together on Rodeo Drive."

Nestled amongst the world's most well-known designers, the all-new Cadillac Escalade establishes a new level of refinement and style, delivered with an instantly recognizable form that introduces the next step in Cadillac's design renaissance. "Escalade on Rodeo" will be open for a limited engagement in Beverly Hills for private previews and exclusive test drives. Consumers will have chance to get a sneak peek at the vehicle when the doors open to the public for one day only on Saturday, November 12.

Cadillac has had a long association with Hollywood that spans across music, television, films and celebrities since its inception in 1903. Hollywood stars have been driving Cadillac's since the days of Jean Harlow and Elvis Presley and the vehicles have been featured in over 25,000 songs, 154 television shows and over 90 feature films.

Based on General Motors' all-new full-size SUV platform, the '07 Escalade features new powertrain, chassis, safety and interior systems. These integrated systems deliver the most powerful and most efficient luxury SUV in the segment, led by a new 6.2L all-aluminum V-8 engine with variable valve timing technology delivering 403 horsepower (301 kw) and 417 lb-ft of torque.

Cadillac Escalade will be available in the first quarter of 2006, with extended-wheelbase Escalade ESV and Escalade EXT models to be introduced later in the year. Marginally. It looks a bit more upmarket than the last one, with better exterior detailing too.

But those vertical headlights don't sit right, but I suppose it makes it more identifiable as a Cadillac.

Unfortunately, It looks like imagination was not used when re-grafting this Tahoe.

Not a lot. The new Escalade does have some nice new features but the "Cadillac" front does not match the rest of the vehicle. You have got an aggressive front fascia and back but the sides look like they took it directly from the Ford Expedition. Boring! Just like the Tahoe and the very ugly Yukon.
I am disappointed in GM

DJ i agree with you, this cadillac is surely a great looker and will continue to sell in high numbers,it has the it factor with all the bling styling included. The hollywood IT people love it. I guess some people just hate the fact it's not german and how dare the americans make a vehicle so good looking and the only come back they can muster is that it shares it's platform with tahoe and yukon which both are great platforms, that is why those vehicles knocked ford right out of the top sell full size suv segment for years and still going. That is why GM has no macth in the full size segment. If the numbers speak for themselves cadillac like the last generation escalade has hit another Super homerun. The cadillac line in full looks great with razor edgy sytling not overdone and overbaked like some vehicles from lexus or bmw.By the way if BMW can sell the world famous butt ugly 7 ands 5 series and the tennis shoe looking x3 then it should prove that styling is not everything there are other factors involved.Do not over look the fact that this 400+hp suv gets great gas mileage for it's size when compared to other vehicles.

Warning! Achtung!

Gross personal opinion to follow below!:

I'm not a huge fan of full size SUV's but my wife sure wants one in a big way. I've driven the H2, and the GM triplets Escalade, Tahoe, Denali and have come away from all of them feeling that they were cheaply put together. That being said, the Cadillac always felt like the best and if I were to take the plunge, that would be the one I'd buy.

This new version of the Escalade is a huge step in the right direction. The interior is a dramatic improvement from an appearance and ergomomic viewpoint. If it feels as good as it looks, then I think that Cadillac has secured it's spot for the forseable future at the head of the full size SUV class.

As far as the exterior design goes, why mess with success? Smooth out the rough spots, tighten up the panel gaps, get rid of the plastic cladding and it will look like the up-scale vehicle it is supposed to be. What else can you do to a big box to make it look better anyway? If you drop the rear roofline like some of the European designs, you risk loosing some functionality and the masculinity of the vehicle. I personally like the stacked headlight design. It is part of the current Cadillac design DNA and needs to be incorporated in the vehicle just like all of he rest of the line. I would like to see adaptive Bi-Xenons available but thats just being picky.

I have not read all of the press releases on it yet, mostly just looked at the pictures so I am speaking strictly from an appearance standpoint. There are many technological features I am sure the vehicle will incorporate either now or in the future such as Bluetooth, Keyless Go, I-pod integration, Rear seat DVD screens in the headrests as opposed to the kind that rattle from the roof. I would also like to see better integration with these systems with the built in audio system.

The 22in wheel option is a good move. Many of the chrome wheels in the aftermarket are of poor quality and bad taste for what they want for them. If the design looks good then I would definitely go for a factory 22 rather than an aftermarket setup.

So there you have it. From a bonified German car enthusiast and an employee of one of them......an endorsement of sorts, of an American full size SUV. You may commence firing!
