I would too, I love heavy cars in general, but that thing is both heavy and boring.

I will tell you people on here for the 1 MILLIONTH TIME.........THIS CAR IS HOT BECAUSE IT BORROWED ABOUT 85% OF ITS DESIGN FROM THE $300,000 MAYBACH......YOU CAN SAY WHAT YOU WANT THATS NOT AN ORIGNAL DESIGN EVERYTHING IS BORROWED THEN THEY TOOK WHAT BMW DID TO THE PREVIOUS 7 (02-08) AND PUT A FIXED SCREEN IN THE CAR FOR THE NAVI. DID BMW TAKE THE DESIGN ON THE ROLLS ROYCE PHANTOM AND PUT IT IN THE NEW 7 NOOOOOOOOOOOO BECAUSE THEY HAVE ORIGINALITY IN DESIGN UNLIKE THE CURRENT S550 THATS OUT. THE CAR DOES NOTHING FOR ME BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN THIS DESIGN FOR THE PAST 5 TO 6 YEARS ON THE MAYBACH. EVERYONE WANTS THE MAYBACH LOOK BUT DONT WANT TO PAY THE MAYBACH PRICE AND HERE YOU GO THE S550 PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

I don't care what YOU say I am a proud owner of a S550 and it's a benchmark luxury sedan no matter what YOU say or THINK. You have never been inside of these sedans, craftsmanship is back in the Mercedes lineup after several years of sub-par construction (mainly the ML-Class). While I like the 7er, the S550 is my choice and many people's choices. Just so you know Maybach and Mercedes are all in house designed. Anyways I don't see my S looking like the Maybach. Different size, different interior, different materials, different market.

The way I see it, all the S-Class, 7 series, Jaguar XJ, Audi A8 and flagship models out there are built superbly and offer some great levels of luxury, it's just the S-Class is a marque name that everyone in the world knows about and is the benchmark and has been for many years now. Quit sipping on that hatorade because that trash talking is giving you bad breath. Learn to appreciate all cars, otherwise you could never call yourself a fan of cars.

FIRST OFF....I have a couple of friends that are in real estate that bought this thing when it came out and yeah so dont say I have never been in one and you dont know me. Do I own one NO I own a 2005 BMW 645 and like Mc Donalds "I'm lovin it" for the most part the S550 was hot in the begining but now i look at it and the maybach and like what the hell is the difference in design....what the S550 is a little smaller as for the interior i will give you that they are different but as for the exterior design its maybach ALL THE WAY. BUT as I can see you werent listening to a word i said i dont care about the craftsmanship, and whether the Mercedes name is known your going all the way out to left feild and I am in right feild so come back and join the party!!!!!I said the reason why the S550 is hot because the EXTERIOR DESIGN is borrowed from the maybach I see it people I know see it and thats all i was gettin at and for your information I am a big fan of cars I am not like some people who are JUST lexus, BMW, AUDI fans I love all cars and i will critisize them on how i see fit if you dont like it oh well its my opinion and theres nothing anyone can do to change it.

I wouldn't consider any diesel for any flagship vehicle. The S550 is the benchmark and the A8 is not far behind. I love the A8's conservative styling and the interior as well, but I am a Benz guy, born and raised into that symbol. I have regret owning my Lexus LS though, it's very boring to drive, but the price was much cheaper than my S so it was a no brainer to get bang for buck value, the Japanese specialty.

not sure if most people know but the S-klasse is the BENCHMARK of flagship sedans...FACT

im sure the A8, LS and 7 does what they do best but there only 1 BENCHMARK

Nice, classy refresh.

I finally realized why I like Bentleys so much - the car is just damn wider; forget fender flares, just widen the whole body. That's what I still don't like about the S-class. The rear flares look so aftermarket tacky, like some guy threw 345s on the back and wanted some sheet metal around them. MB should really soften that styling cue. Instead, we still see the ugly Maybach influences.
