Was This Saab One Of The Inspirations For The Nissan Z And When's The Last Time You've Seen One?
I caught this 1972 Saab Sonnet cruising through eBay tonight and realized I forgot this car ever existed.

But I wonder looking back, was it one of the inspirations of one of my other favorite cars from that era, the Nissan Z?

Enjoy the photos and you can buy it on eBay if you like it!

I got to drive one on these a long time ago. It was a cool little car. It had a cable shifter that would tend to get stuck and you would have to get underneath it to free it up. The little V-4 was OK. Never saw very many of them. Was one of my favorite cars at the time.

The original Z came out in 1969, how could this 1972 model be the inspiration for the original Z???

Have to agree with you, -F1 driver. Both were strongly influenced by other European sports cars of the early sixties, especially the E-type Jaguar and the Porsche 911.

There are still a few of those Saab Sonnets around, although the steel frames rust badly under the fiberglass body. What you're showing is the second generation, the first one gen car looked vaguely like an amphibian, and didn't sell well.
