at least the interior makes up for the hideous exterior.

I'm so disapointed of BMW.
This thing looks like a 1978 chevy citation.

The Citation came out in 1979 as an early 1980 model. You so don't know anything about cars.

I let the X6 slide. But this?!?! Terrible.

Wow. The best BMW interior ever inside perhaps the worst BMW exterior ever.

I guess the real question is if it is nicer than a BMW sportwagon?

Nobody wants wagons in the USA so it looks like they are trying something else...

I'm not crazy about the exterior at first glance but I think I'd rather drive this than a sportwagon...more room and flexibility.

But that said, if it were my money, I'd go X5 or X6.

The people always decide in the end with their wallets so we'll see.

I don't think this will be an easy sale for them.

Then be like me and go buy a Venza.

The exterior of this thing is a monstrosity. The headlights conflict with the grille. The rear wheel conflicts with the line of the roof. It really feels like BMW is just creating new versions for the sake of creating new versions. Maybe that's why Bangle left.

5 Series SEDAN ONLY please.

Rear end and especially tail lights are horrendous. Interior is same as X6, 7 series...etc so nothing new or individual interior.
This better be some 10K less than comparable engined and optioned X6/X5.

Frankly I don't get all the animus towards this vehicle. Yes, the rear of the cabin extends further over the "trunk" than normal, but I don't think it looks that much different than a regular sedan, and I would imagine was BMW's point. It's going to be a low volume vehicle, basically for people who want the practicality of a wagon without the car looking like a wagon (like Americans, for example, who refuse to buy wagons). That actually describes me and my family perfectly. So the exterior looks fine to me, and the interior looks pretty awesome actually (certainly nicer than the recent E-class interior photos I've seen). If I'm in the minority so be it, it's not a volume vehicle and I'd rather not see 1000 cars like mine driving around anyway.

We do not buy cars because of the interiors. The exteriors, though, are very important decision-makers when time to purchase comes... They stopped CS to make this.. I do not know what they were thinking... May be make Bangle quit??? OK, that worked. Now do not bring that ugly thing to dealerships. I won't buy even if I had the money...

Ugly as fcuk. Looks like some clown took a 1 series, stretched it a bit, and threw on a hatchback.

Maybe as a 3-series hatch, but a 5-series? They've just cheapened the 5-series brand.

Agreed. Keep in mind, they're still coming out with the X1 and new X3; where the hell is this gonna fit in their lineup. FFS! BMW needs a reality check. I swear that, that sloping roof line completely defeats the whole purpose of having any extra amount cargo space.

Not my brand but if Bimmer peeps say its a joke then BMW may have a Aztek moment on their hands.

I'm so sorry Hachee2001 if I hurt your feelings, unfortunately I was born after the chevy citation came into production, and at least I know it has exist. So keep your 1980 chevy citation V6 2.8 FI in good shape, it may worth something in year 3500....

Yikes! The only chic you'll be picking up with this monstrosity is Owen's mom from "throw momma from the train."

The designer should have to go down on her twice a day.

the interior is awesome! its like another 7 series~~ does this mean that the new 5 will get this interior??? then i think the new E Class will have some serious trouble to compete with new 5 series!(internally)
and i actually like the front view of it... but i have nothing to say about the side and rear.... .... how can they design something like this... espeically the 3rd pic... omg... horrible....

At least my Venza isn't visually challenged. I swear BMW totally stole the whole crossover-sedan (Venza) concept. Tisk, tisk BMW.

Who ever designed this car must have had a really bad stomach ache when they designed it because oh my gosh look at what came out:( ABSOLUTELY WORST THAN UGLY BANGLE BUTT and this must be BMW's updated version the Pontiac Aztec. The interior is nice but unfortunately it's the exterior that most people only usually see and that's what really counts.
