The place to REALLY test the capabilities of the new Lexus IS

I love the smell of burning brakes and tires in the afternoon! It smells like VICTORY!

We had a riot driving the new IS350 and BMW 330 head to head at today's 'Taste of Lexus' event.

The lines to drive the IS350 were the longest but it was worth the wait! (see photos below)...

If the BMW 330 with 255 hp go head to head with Lexus IS 350 with 306 Horse Power, off course Lexus IS 350 will Smoke 330 to dust. 0-60 in 5.1-5.6 second range for IS 350, now that is fast.

Body control? Grip? Balance?

Around a track, acceleration figures alone do not tell the whole story.

For example, a superbike with a 0-60 time of around 3 seconds was beaten by a Porsche 911 around a circuit, mainly due to the bikes slow entry speeds into corners.

I'm sure around a circuit, the BMW could give the more powerfull IS a lesson or two.

Ummm...the 350 has already been tested and only managed a 0-60 of 6.0. There is no way a 3,500lb. car w/ 300hp and 275 lbs. of torque and an automatic is going to pull a 5.3 0-60. Still, 6.0 is a fast straight-line, but in the curves that car just doesn't make it. If they made it a true driver's car and offered a 6speed plus a better suspension with VSC you can turn off, they'd have a formidable car.

I'm partial to Infiniti, but based on what I've already read, the 330 trounces the IS at the track. Hope Lexus wakes up and fixes this almost great car.
