2010 Cadillac SRX Pricing Starts At $34,155
As GM heads towards an inevitable bankruptcy by the end of the month, it announced today that Cadillac will see two important launches later this summer. Production of the new 2010 Cadillac SRX and the CTS Sport Wagon will start this summer.
Pricing for the 2010 Cadillac SRX will start at $34,155. The 2010 SRX will be offered with two engine choices including GM’s new 3.0L V6 direct-injection unit making 260-hp with a peak torque of 221 lb-ft. The range-topper will be powered by a 2.8L turbocharged V6 making 300-hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Fuel-economy is estimated to come in the mid-20s on the highway.
The 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon will be offered with a 263-hp 3.6L VVT or a 304-hp 3.6L V6. Highway fuel economy is estimated to reach 28 mpg. Pricing for the 2010 CTS Sport Wagon will be announced at a later date.

Well, at least GM priced the SRX below most of the competition.

So, it has a fighting shot but I do not think this or the CTS Sport Wagon are going to be tremendous sources of revenue post-bankruptcy.

"I do not think this or the CTS Sport Wagon are going to be tremendous sources of revenue post-bankruptcy."

I feel I need to make the same statement I made months ago that got deboosted:

Why wasnt the CTS Coupe launched this year in favor of one of these two somewhat similar utility vehicles? The launch of two utility vehicles doesnt make sense. Although I'd prefer the CTS wagon of these two, wagons dont do all that well here anyways. Why the delay of the CTS Coupe?

Cadillac, like any other company, will not produce a non-practical product when they need profit. How many coupes will be sold compared to SUV units? These are very profitable. Maybe to jump off on the Sporwagon this soon wasn't as good a decision, but the SRX is a direct competitor to the Lexus RX at a discount price and will bring Caddy bank. The Coupe should be released in the fall but separate as to get attention on its own.

Actually, this is a modified platform used by Chevy of Europe and Opel (true Daewoo builds these models, but out side of shared platform pieces, they have nothing in common). The modified platform used (Theta) in the states is also used in the Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain.

Unique to the SRX:

A new, 3.0L direct injected and E85 capable V6 engine is standard and a new, 2.8L turbocharged V6 is optional. Both engines employ technology that helps produce strong performance that is typical of larger-displacement engines. Direct injection enables a 25-percent reduction in hydrocarbon emissions. Fuel economy in the mid-20s on the highway is expected, but testing isn't yet complete.
The 3.0L direct injection V6 is a smaller-displacement version of the 3.6L, direct injection engine featured in the Cadillac CTS sport sedan and named one of the world's 10 Best Engines for 2009 by Ward's Automotive. Along with direct injection technology, the 3.0-liter engine employs variable valve timing to optimize power and fuel efficiency and reduce emissions

The AWD system includes an advanced electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD) that distributes torque as needed from side-to-side along the rear axle, in addition from the front to rear axle. The pre-emptive, active-on-demand system provides an extra measure of capability in wet or icy conditions.

"Inside the new SRX, technical precision blends with old-world craftsmanship," Dean said. "Hand-cut-and-sewn coverings on the instrument panel and ambient lighting details convey a finely tailored cabin."

An integrated center stack houses controls for climate and audio systems, while the navigation system rises from the center of the instrument panel. A signature example of the SRX's attention to detail is the Cadillac script logos in the front door sill plates that illuminate when the doors are opened.

The 2010 Cadillac SRX features numerous advanced electronic features. Highlights include a "pop-up" navigation screen featuring 3D imaging; adaptive forward lighting that swivels the headlamps in synch with vehicle steering; power liftgate with adjustable height setting; integrated hard disc drive for audio storage and a dual-screen system for rear entertainment.

The Cadillac SRX was also designed to meet European pedestrian protection standards; and the front bumper is positioned for greater compatibility with car bumpers.

I really like this new SRX. I hope it sells well. It was a good idea to downsize the model. Now, if only the same type of change can happen with the next Escalade....
