Is The Biggest Enemy Of The Resurgence Of GM, Ford? They Quietly Announced A 10% Increase In Production Today
If you've been listening, viewing or reading all the BS hype that today's GM bankruptcy will end up turning them around and BELIEVING it, then I have a Madoff-like scheme I'd like to sell you.

Let us De-Bunk what REALLY will happen for you going forward.

1. The Volt may NEVER make it to market and if it does it will be a MASSIVE failure. Too many other good products out there like the Prius for much less money and a better history of reliability. DUMP IT NOW. DON'T WASTE ANOTHER CENT ON IT.

2. Americans LOVE winners. NO market influencers or taste makers will buy ANYTHING GM makes for a long time to come, if ever. The stigma of 'Government Motors' will haunt them and nix ANY marketing or ad scheme they can come up with. It will be a PR persons nightmare. And there won't be enough of the potential customers of their cars with money because they are this wars collateral damage. Today a car purchase more than ever, is a statement of who we are and a reward to ourselves. Nobody wants to bring a new car home and have the neighbor say, isn't that the same car the highway department uses?

3. These will be the winners of this bailout/bankruptcy/debacle. Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Kia and Ford. The vacuum is on and I already hear the sucking sound. And Ford quietly announce a 10% increase in production today. Good for them, they EARNED it. More former GM customer conquests coming soon, stay tuned.

Within two years this will be looked at as Obama's Iraq and as the DUMBEST business move in the history of the world.

Like we said before this happened...They should have let the chips fall where they would and let them sink or swim on their own.

If it were me, that's what I would have done.

But I would have taken a small percentage of the money they wasted (YES, there is NO doubt our government WASTED all that money and it's a SIN) and divided it up to the seniors who lost their pensions and as bridge unemeployment money to help the people who lost the jobs, transition to other jobs in areas of the country where the economy is still reasonably strong.

Agreed, Ford has done it right and if I am ever in the market for an American vehicle than Ford has me as customer. Plus, they are truely global with their products more so than GM and Chrysler (unless it turns into Fiat).

Funny, Chrysler, even before exciting their bankruptcy has an upswing in sales and good showroom traffic. With a strong product line, warranties that is backed up by the government (hopefully this government dogma will last a few years) customers will go no a days where the deals are. People are looking for great deals, and if Johnny come lately like Hyundai and Tesla could attract buyers without any exposure, GM can and will.

We weren't expecting this, especially from General Motors, which was forced to sell cars and trucks last month amidst rumors of impending bankruptcy (something that came to fruition as soon as the month was over). Despite this, GM posted a decrease in sales volume of only 29.55%.

Sure, GM's sales decreased last month compared to May 2008, but they decreased at a far slower rate than its major Japanese competitors: Toyota (-40.72%), Honda (-41.46%) and Nissan (-33.10%). Plus, check out the chart below and you'll notice that GM's top four performing brands – Chevy (-23.74%), Cadillac (-39.86%), GMC (-22.13%) and Buick (-16.98%) – are the same ones that will be transferred over to New GM after it emerges from bankruptcy, which is certainly a good sign.

Ready for the 2011 Ford Focus BEV.
My Ford stock gone up 600% since 11/2008.
GM shares will bounce back transiently but not much.

How will GM shares bounce back if they are no longer a publicly traded company?

If you noticed the demographics of the dealer closures it really wont effect GM and Dodge truck sales as compared to ford. Just my prediction.
Chevy guys want chevys, Dodge Guys want Dodges, and Ford guys want fords. The warranty and dealer related issues may come into play. Who knows.

001, you have a point. However, Ford will be saddled with huge debts while GM won't be. Brands that were and still are "All American" ie, Chevrolet, Cadillac will always have a decent amount of following specially with their ever improving quality. I'm not pro GM or against FORD. I'm looking at this with a bird's eye view. In increasing production, FORD is taking advantage of the vacuum from GM's bankruptcy which is a usual, normal step in managing a competing brand. Alan Mullaly is doing what a CEO who is at the top of his game is doing.

I don't understand why GM is duplicating the pickups,(Silverado/Sierra) and the Colorado/xxx).Why is GMC so important that they want to keep it?
