Bmw reveals official teasers of the X1
Two years down the road it has been reported that the German carmaker BMW will be releasing a number of its latest models together with new variants of its present top selling models and some models that have never been seen yet.

The new model, revealed in spy photos, shows its outlines and curves under the least amount of camouflage. The grill has not been disguised as well as its sporty front and rear bumpers. Front and rear lights are similar to the 5-Series GT and 7-Series sedan, correspondingly. It is clear that the designers at BMW have been faithful to the line of the X1 Concept model which was shown at the Paris Motor Show last year. Although the running gear of the X1 has been patterned after the 1-Series compact car, it will come with a higher ride height. The X1 will combine the parts of the 1-series and 3-series and will feature the X-drive All-Wheel-Drive.

You Lexus morons crack me up. Does the Porsche Cayenne also compete with the Toyota Harrier? Excuse me, Lexus RX?

You're comparing a Lexus RX to a BMW X5? You dont seem to know anything about cars. You dont compare a Lexus to a BMW...It makes no sense. Go compare the RX to Infinity or Acura's version of luxury four wheel drives.

Yoour desperate attacks only prove your ignorance. Toyota Harrier does not exist. And previous Harrier generations were just rebadged Lexi RX, not the otherwise.

And, by the way, Porsche Cayenne = Volkswagen Touareg. Just should you not know.

You buy a Porsche... get a People's Car instead.

X5 is a larger vehicle and the RX doesn't compete with it.

and the Acura RDX > Lexus RX anyway. Hyundai Vera Cruz offers more bang for the buck as well.

This X1 could be something special.

Body lengths:

Mercedes ML: 4788 mm
Lexus RX: 4770 mm
BMW X5: 4854 mm

So should what you've just said be true, it would mean that the Mercedes ML also does not compete with the BMW X5. Which is obviously nonsense cause these SUVs do compete very much.

What's the point of calling oneself "an expert" then? To boost the non-existing credibility?

I really hope Audi can catch up and kick their a**. That'll teach them a very important lesson "Do not make pointless cars".

Audi is planning the Q1, a direct competitor to the X1 and a coupe with a bendy roof sized somewhere between A6 and A8.

The fact that you do not see a "need" for a car or that you don't like it doesn't make them *actually* pointless. I don't understand why people bitch about these cars and that they are "pointless". Really, most cars are "pointless" when compared to a another care with more utility. Many people don't buy a car becuse they desperatly need every specific feature that specific car has to offer. So really, saying that a car is "pointless" and how you hope another company will "teach them a lesson" is rather idiotic.

To me, this is probably not going to be an X1. I am sure it will be the 3 series GT. Just like the 5 series GT. Of course, there is too much body cladding to tell what this truely will be. They wont produce wagons anymore because they have a negative connotation to them. They will just call them GT's. i want a 3 series GT with the TT engine please!

I don't know why some of you can't see/imagine the whole thing now. These teasers of X1 together with earlier released X1 Concept pretty much show what X1 will look like. And it's not looking very good so far.
This maybe BMW's answer to Nissan Qashqai, Dodge Calibre, Suzuki Grand Vitara...etc. Lately BMW is making models which nobody asked.

The new X1 is meant to take the place of the old X3. The new X3 will take the place of the old (2001-2006) two-row X5. The new two-plus row X5 (2007-on) will grow to be what should have been called the X7 by its next iteration in five years time. That will give them a full X1-X3-X5 lineup (equal to what everyone expected to be the X3/X5/X7 lineup).

IMHO there is not enough market to support three full models in the X-series like there is in sedans. All they are doing is segregating a lot of their own sales. Bad move.
