And You Just Thought They Were Dead! Hummer Plans To Expand Dealerships And Models
The Chinese manufacturer planning to buy General Motors' Hummer will expand the brand's lineup -- including alternative powertrains -- and retain its U.S. dealers, Hummer CEO Jim Taylor said today.

Taylor said that GM plans to sell its Hummer brand to Chinese equipment manufacturer Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co., of Sichuan province.

"The brand lives another day," said Taylor, who added he would be retained by the new owners. Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

If a market exist, the fine. Someone will build it, and the moral outcries about the environment will be ignored by the Chinese. They don't play that whining game.

That picture reminds me of the older Bronco where the top was removable. As for Chinese owning Hummer. I can't help but laugh a little.

Hummer was victim of several mistakes over the years. That goes without saying, but the first mistake was the H2's rear suspension. Originally it was supposed to have a modified front (independent) suspension from the Silverado/Sierra. At the last moment they ditched that as being too expensive. They could very well have created something that was ahead of the game in terms of comfort. Additonally, the lack of foresight into offering it (and other models) with a diesel engine as was the case with the H1. Another missed opportunity to make Hummer a true competitor of Jeep.
