YOU Chose ONE WORD Descriptions For Premium Brands. Which Brand Got Dissed The Most?
Yesterday, I asked you all to try and describe as accurately as possible with one word, what these premium brands stood for, if you were telling a friend.

As I read through the excellent creativity from the readers, I have to be honest that a couple of the brands I thought would shine, got firmly dissed.

The one I was most surprised about was Infiniti.

As you read through the majority of the descriptors, words like poser, lame, underacheiver, bland, wannabe kind of shocked me.

For a couple reasons.

1. Whenever we publish news about them, it gets a lot of traffic.
2. Although they are no BMW as hard as they try, I don't think they deserved THAT kind of spanking. The G-Series are pretty nice cars, no?

So the question I pose to you is, are they deserving of that kind of dissmanship and were you surprised by the way people described some of the brands (good or bad)?

For me it'd have to be Infiniti. They seemed confused and in limbo as to which brand they want to follow or to be compete with. Although we know they are supposed to be a Lexus competitor, they seem lost. Maybe they are trying too hard.

I like Infiniti. The G37 is quick and fun. The FX50S is just a sleek SUV with a sexy exhaust note. It's not as common as an Acura or a Lexus. Not sure why it gets so much hate.
I believe it's people's mentality though. They often hate on the car they want but barely cannot afford.

My "wannabe" qualification was not meant to be a negative. They try harder than most and offer good bang for the buck but their products lack refinement ot at least the kind of refinement I'm looking for.
Take the 350Z for instance: lots of power, grip etc. yet far from the refinement of an equally-priced BMW or an entry-level Porsche. You do get more of anything but it's less refined, less exciting. I could say the same about their M models. In that sense I'd classify Infinity as a wannabe brand, wanting to hang up there with the big boys but not quite ready yet.

infiniti is always ALMOST there... just cant seem to take the lead... they need an infiniti variation of the GT-R to boost brand recognition...

Acura is not a premium brand.

Im the one who said "wannabe" because I think over time they have morphed into a company that chases solely after BMW and no one else. (whoever said they are lexus competitors obviously hasnt driven either!) Each one of their models seems to be the japanese answer to a specific BMW model, and they dont seem to be shy in saying so either.

Adamsaf723, You are surprised it wasn't Lexus because you are one of the Lexus haters that revealed who you really are. The rest of your coward haters, being only a few, are shocked as well and don't quite know how to respond. Point is once you look real close at those Lexus cars they are truly first rate in just about every way except performance and believe me when I say....It's changing. The F cars are coming and will become the new standards in high performance luxury cars and suvs. Mark my words.

This is to be expected. The one who stands out from the normal bland and takes on the top competition will always get the most attention.
