BMW M3 E93 Convertible - All in chrome
All chromed up BMWs seem to be in these days and for the past few weeks, we have several different models sporting some sort of a chrome paint job. To be honestly, this trend started a few years ago, but it hasn’t gotten much attention until recently. Last year, we featured for the first time, an E46 BMW M3 sporting one of the shiniest paints we have ever seen.

While we couldn’t say that we were big fans of that paint job, we still appreciate it the efforts and uniqueness. It wasn’t until last week when we finally saw one of the best looking all chrome BMWs so far. Again, a BMW M3, E46 model, which was modded by a tuner shop in Romania. Total price? Not on the cheap side for sure, over $12,000.

Today, a Russian car shop, DereiterRacing posted a video of the most recent M3 launched by BMW: the E93 M3 Convertible. Nothing intriguing so far, right? Well, that’s not quite right, this E93 M3 sports one of the shiniest, brightest, blinding chrome jobs we have ever…ever…ever seen.

The question is: do we dig it? Not really, we’re kinda old school and like those classy BMW exterior paints, but at the same time, we can’t lie that we find it a bit intriguing. Would we spend the allegedly $30,000 price on it? NOT REALLY……

Pictures don't do it justice. The other day I say a fully chromed CL63 AMG. It looked amazing.

StarSearch,
Did you mean "how big a FOOL they are"? :-)
It's intriguing, but not my cup of tea. I'd get tired of it soon, and I'd spend a hell of a lot of time rubbing the smudge marks off of it. Same reason why I don't own stainless steel kitchen appliances.

MB SLK and SL series
Every Audi especaily the A5, and TT roadster
Cadillac CTS-V

The only thing missing on that car is an American Airlines Logo

I have a disdain for all things BMW...HOWEVER the amount of work and labor required to do this to mettle is quite intense and takes months of time to do. It is really an art to do this type of work and the amount of labor and hand work is really what you are paying for. Today technology is cheep and labor is expensive.

To bad the car it is based on is a POS that likes to understeer into corners and has reliability "issues" with el crapo electronic niggles and requires frequent valve adjustments. A valve adjustment is acceptable on a Ducati or an older Ferrari, not a new BMW M3 convertible that is almost 75 grand should have self adjusting valves. I don't think BMW engineers ever drive or benchmark Porsche's or anything that comes from Italy or even the Corvette Z06 or ZR1 in their arrogance. Even though the Corvette is made out of plastic Chevy AT LEAST drives a lot of Porsche's and benchmarks them and try to get close!

I don't think it's actually chrome plated... 99% chance its a cheap spray on chrome.

The E46 M3 CONCEPT car was the first car I remember seeing in a chromed paint job, although it was smoked chrome. So this doesn't seem that much of a stretch about 8 years later. I realize that some of you were in elementary school then and wouldn't remember it though.

Horrible. This is 100 times worse than the flat/matte black look which previously led the competition for worst paint job ever.

Driving the standard M already tells the world you might be a dirtbag, adding chintzy chrome? .... removes all doubt :)
