Ford planning a four-door-coupe Mondeo variant, may come to U.S.

The folks over at CAR Online have dug up some dirt on Ford’s plan for the next-generation Mondeo. According to their sources, joining the estate and sedan model will be a four-door-coupe variant offering a cut-price CLS.

Now that Ford of Europe is making some green, it can afford to produce image-building cars. The four-door-coupe Mondeo will be halo car for the brand along with the reincarnation of the Capri. wtf. Coupes should have 2 doors. I'm sick of this twisting of terms. This is a sedan whether they like it or not.

Yes, but a very stylish one. You get all the benefits of the sedan with beautiful coupe lines.

By the way, at leats one classification of cars (by SAE?) is based not on the number of doors but on interior volume. So you may have a tiny four door coupe and a huge two door sedan.

This four-door-coupe wouldn't come along until after the standard Mondeo gets redisigned in 2012-2013? The car will look like an old Taurus by then. Ford, I like the car...build that one now, not four years from now.

actually they seem pretty equal to me. they have similar backgrounds of crap cars once upon a time and now they are doing something worthy.

It will happen. A friend of mine saw a MKZ four door coupe at a styling preview........you can be sure others are in the works.

These cars are just "four door hardtops," a style Detroit did very well, for decades.

But then so was the original Volt. The same will happen here and by the time it gets to production it will look just like the Five Hundred/Taurus!
