Autoweek: 510-hp 5.0-liter XFR AJ-V8 will be badged SV8 in Jaguar's 2010 XJ
Jaguar’s next-generation XJ luxury sedan will incorporate design features from the C-XF concept first shown at Detroit, AutoWeek has learned.

Although prototypes captured by spy photographers are disguised with BMW-style grilles, the face of the new 2010 XJ will feature Jag’s gaping square grille and a curvaceous body with a rakish, coupelike rear window. The final XJ incorporates slim headlights with double-projector lenses that are very close in design to those revealed on the dramatic C-XF shown at the 2007 North American International Auto Show.

Industry sources report that the xenon lights previewed on the C-XF weren’t ready for production in 2007, so they couldn’t be incorporated into the XF, the midsize sedan that arrived soon after the concept. But now, that technology is production-ready for the XJ.

The new XJ might be even better looking than the XF.

What this means, if true, is that the XJR will have a more powerful engine than the 510-hp XFR in a vehicle that will supposedly weigh less. Perhaps this heralds a return of the V-12 Jaguar? There is one website which stated the XJR would have an blown 580-hp AMG engine, but I am skeptical of this.

As is similar to the XF the XJR will probably not appear until a year or so after the model debut. This would also allow them to shoehorn the engine into the XK; something which I am assuming they will do.

Although they just added the current 510-hp engine, so I am not sure that actually makes sense. The nice thing about it is that we shall see, but I have no doubt that whatever it is that they have up their sleeve it will be exciting.

What was so "advanced" about the concept's headlights?

So, basically they're saying we're looking at the new XJ to look like the C-XF?
