Was it Lexus copying Mercedes or was it Mercedes copying Lexus, now I'm confused... and dizzy!

Remember when BMW started to look ugly, with the strange flat deck on the trunk of the flagship sedan, and the rest of them were losing the styling edge? Mercedes is now off on a styling craze. They had to cancel that horrible C-Class coupe, and they brought out the R-Class, a monster design, and now they're about to kill the E-Class wagon, and maybe the E-Class itself, which is going to get an entire makeover. All in the midst of a good-looking '07 S-Class which will be too expensive once it is equipped with options and packages. It's starting to look like someone is sleeping at the helm. (I do, however, question the legitamacy of that photo).
