Toyota Supra hybrid successor coming at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show!
The production of the Toyota Supra ended in 2002 leaving fans and tuning specialists with only the SC Soarer or the MR-S to toy with.

That’s about to change with talks of a new successor to the Supra about to make an entrance, besides the 086A that’s reportedly still in development. It has been discovered that the successor to the Supra continued its development in silence, giving priority to the 086A. The report says that almost all of the features of the Supra successor has come out of the design stage and has now entered development and will most probably be finished by the end of this year. It is speculated that power under the hood for the successor car will be the 3.51 V6 from the Lexus 450H and will most likely be joined with the present Toyota Crown hybrid system that generates 400hp and channels them to the wheels at the rear.

The side profile looks GT-R like... The front end, will probably (Hopefully) be changed for the final product. I just hope a Targa Top or T-Top option is offered!!

It looks like a mix between the 370Z and the Genesis Coupe

Toyota is really changing. Hope they go back to their roots and start to produce vehicles that aren't mediocre but more top of the segment. The LF-A better be good:)

yeah, they really are...not only are their sales down tremendously, but:

IS-F: decent 1st attempt, but easily killed by being outperformed and outclassed by the targeted opposition

LF-A: pretty much nonexistent except for track cars that catch on fire when driven

Supra: even less existent than the LF-A

Please go away

I'm glad Toyota is going in this direction. I really liked the last Supra.

The regular supra has always been criticized for being to heavy. Now they plan on slapping batteries and electric motors on top of it? I smell fail.

as long as it's tuner friendly, it should do well.

theres no reason a hybrid can't be tuner friendly.

how about shoving more stuff into a car makes it more cramped and harder to work on? That seems like a very valid reason to me.

A hybrid sports car??? As I said in another topic, one step closer to someone making a full size truck that is a hybrid. I can picture the laughs as he pulls into the construction site boasting his 25mpg.

Remember! Toyota is very calculating. The LF-A is their halo car, but the Supra will be a somewhat buget hybrid that will blow away cars like the Honda S2000, Nissan 370Z and cars in that class. Be not fooled though...If in fact they do release the Supra it will probably be faster than the Lexus IS-F...point being....it will be a high tech sports car.

it's a sports car, regardless of the hyrbid version or not, this is what people want to see from toyota, a sports car. Bring this along with the new toyota/subaru car and the LF-A and there's 3 sports cars in 3 different price brakets. One exclusive, one around the Z-Corvette price range, and another even cheaper but none less performance oriented
