Toyota's New Leader Warns Of Another Two Tough Years
We’re pretty sure Akio Toyoda, grandson of Toyota’s founder, didn’t expect taking over the company at a time where demand in the auto industry is at an all time low. Nonetheless, the 53-year old Toyoda family member is here and ready to push the world’s no.1 car company back to profit, which he warns could take another two tough years.
Toyoda said that he will do more to build a more autonomous North American operation and shift focus to marketing a more region-specific vehicle lineup. Toyota, which now faces a second year of record loss, will aim to cut costs so it can be profitable using just 70 percent of its factory capacity.
“We want to do everything possible to avoid a third consecutive year of losses,” Toyoda told reporters.

This is a huge problem. Toyota is doing tragically and they barely have any money.

PS. I just wanted to impersonate this tool Mitchel for a single time.

biggest loser company? what a joke! you need to lay off that crack, it's making your mind function like the electrical systems in german cars! LOL! they are the spiritual successor to the "Prince of Darkness" systems in Brit cars!

not only are the germy machines far inferior to lexus when it comes to quality and reliability, but even "cheap toyotas" beat them out too!

and incidentally, audi catching and passing bmw and mb in profitability is just a hint of what the future holds.

recent article in biz press mentions the latter two are DOOMED if they can not link up with a high volume mfgr to spread out development costs.

audi has vw. lexus has toyota. acura and infiniti have honda and nissan/renault respectively.

mb TRIED TO start up a second line with the Maybach. but being backasswards, they went for the WRONG END of the market. and had to pull the plug.

Its obvious, Other car companies are working on better quality . This in turn creates competition. The car market in general has been hit between the yes on top of it all. With that said, your darn right it will take @ 2 years

this guy drove an LF-A at the 24 hours of Nurburgring. He wants the sport back at Toyota, it's because of him the LF-A is going to go to production, we'll also see the new toyota/subaru small sports car, and a new variant of the supra. so it's not just commuter cars toyota will be producing but sports cars as well, finally, someone with some sense of direction and a little sport in his attitude.
