REVIEW: Passat CC A Half Priced CLS?

REVIEW: Passat CC A Half Priced CLS?
Four doors.  Coupe.  What do the two have in common?  Apparently, a lot.  What was once thought to be separate identities has now become one, thus the birth of the four door coupe.  But I still do not understand how it is possible for a four door sedan to be called a “coupe.”  So, I did what any rational first grader would do; consult the dictionary.

According to Merriam-Webster, a “coupe” is either “a four-wheeled closed horse-drawn carriage for two persons inside with an outside seat for the driver in front.”  Or, “a 2-door automobile often seating only two persons; also: one with a tight-spaced rear seat.”

I see the keyword being two doors but Mercedes-Benz saw it differently with their marketing blitz of the CLS, which touted its likeness to classic, Mercedes coupes.   It appeared to be a stretched E-class with a sloping roofline and a graceful rear-end.  In my eyes, it was merely a mash-up of an E-class and CL, but, it had some funky headlights.

Coupe or sedan, it did not matter because it was damn good looking.

I agree.

Problem may be VW's lingering reliability issues.

you do have a point with that Agent00R.....thats something they really need to focus on. Between them and Audi I dont know which is worst in reliability. Myfriend has an either a 2003 or a 2004 Audi A4 1.8T and I cant count on my fingers how many times that thing has been in the shop for something with the engine or tranny this year alone.

It is a shame.

Would have been nice to see the new VR6 with a traditional manual.

I have owned a Black 4cyl CC since April, amazing car all around. Forget the leather and all of that, you wont know the difference. Walked out at $26k, stickered at $29k. I get 33 to 35 mpg freeway. The car is tight, drives quick and clean, gorgeous lines. People constantly ask what it is, shocked that its a VW.The 4cyl is perfect, great mix of performance and efficiency. One of the best cars I have ever purchased. Bring on the TDI, would probably get 40-45 mpg with these sleek lines. Kudos to VW on this one

also, I don't care if they call it a coupe or whatever they want, it has nothing to do with the car, and nobody at the dealership referred to it as a coupe. Just a CC. Just look at the thing. The back end is a thing of beauty and makes the rear of end of a CLS look like Amy Winehouse after a 4 day bender. This car is the best deal on the market.

I drove one, but the V6 4 matic versian and the Nav screen was hard to see in the sun, I couldn't figure out how to put the cruise control on and it rode like an ox cart
