Report: Toyota could supply GM with re-badged Prius
As part of its bankruptcy restructuring, GM has announced that it will shed its 50% stake in New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated (Nummi). The plant, co-owned by Toyota Motor Corp. and General Motors currently manufactures Toyota’s Corolla and Tacoma models, and the Pontiac Vibe for GM.

While this particular venture is set to expire in August with the end of the production of the Pontiac Vibe, this may not be the end of what is now a 25-year-old mutually beneficial relationship between the top two automakers. According to sources close to the project, Akio Toyoda and Fritz Henderson, respectively the Toyota and GM executives plan to meet in Detroit in August to discuss future possibilities...

Well that's stupid. Toyota is already facing massive sales decreases. They'd be opening up a whole new can of whoop-ass on themselves. Granted, I'm sure their profits would still decrease or increase at the same rate.

So a car (Volt) that has not yet been released to the general public is years ahead of a car (Prius) that has been on the road for about a decade... hmm?.. Go figure!

This is Toyota disinformation. They want to look like they are killing GM with kindness.

GM has the capability to do this on their own.

In a word, this is garbage. GM doesn't need the Prius. And it seems some of the less informed are still yapping away, as if the Volt is intended to be direct competition for the Prius. It isn't. You want a Toyota hybrid to compete against a GM product? Compare the Lexus HS250h and the Volt. Now THAT'S a comparison. Similar price, similar market. In case you haven't noticed a Chevrolet product can compete with products its name says it shouldn't. Corvette...say it with me...CORVETTE...kicks every sports car ass this side of 100 grand. EVERY one. And kicks some on the other side as well.

The first sentence is the entire story...

GM has said that New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated (Nummi) has been relegated to "Old GM" in its Bankruptcy restructuring.

Toyota is just wasting their time, the shots are being called by Stevie the Rat, or to be precise. Steven Rattner, Barack Obama's 'Car Czar'
