BMW X1 - High Resolution Photos
The next few days will all be about the BMW X1, so get ready for photos, more photos and again some photos. As expected and seen before in other releases, BMW has made available a variety of photos of the new X1, including the ones we have seen yesterday, but also new unseen shots.

Most of these photos entirely reflect the “Joy” marketing campaign that revolves around the BMW X1 and the targeted demographic is portrayed in many of them. As we said lots of times before, BMW X1 will fit into this product line as a more compact SAV aimed at a younger demographic

not a huge fan of the exterior, but the interior looks great, it definitely beats out the GLK interior! Dare I say, almost audi status. I'm really impressed, especially when you look at the interior of the current X3. You can definitely see that BMW is trying to get rid of their reputation for using hard plastics and bland interiors.

If 80's interior and sleep inducing wood trim excites you, you must have very low standards :)

Ok sector, where to start. first of all find me an 80's car with an LCD screen in the dash, paddle shifters, and push button ignition. Technology aside, this is not an 80's design. Good 80's interiors are much more minimalist and bad 80's interiors do not have design in mind at all. Even if it was an 80's interior, that would be a good thing from a marketing standpoint as every field of design, from furniture to clothing to architecture to automobiles, is currently seeing a lot of 1980's influence.
That said. I was not only talking about the design of interior but the quiality that has gone into this interior when compared to its competitors, specifically the GLK. If you have been in a GLK yet you will know what i'm talking about, the interior is lacking in proportional design and quality finishes.
Also keep in mind that this interior is on an entry level car, in which case BMW had plenty of chances to go with lower end products.
If you aren't satisfied with the wood you can probably choose one of the many other trim choices available, i'm sure you'd be happy with burl walnut, as many BMW owners are. However this car is clearly targeted to a younger crowd than the average BMW buyer and therefore a unique, less traditional trim is probably going to sell better.
Now, I would like to think my standards are pretty high as a matter of fact. I would say in this class bmw is only second to audi. If you would like to let me know what real standards are, or what you believe them to be, I would love an example.

why yes, there is, it's the same market the Q5 and GLK are in. People seem to be forgetting the X1 is almost identical in size to the current X3, only with (finally) all the new technology and a significantly lower price. The new, larger X3 (sized similarly to the previous generation X5) will hit dealerships in 2010 and compete with the Mercedes ML.

How do you know that it will be "significantly lower priced" than the X3? Has the pricing been released here in the US?

investor, no, they haven't released U.S. pricing, but they did just release the German pricing, and it's significantly less than the X3. It's also priced lower than the Q5 and GLK in Europe. It's a pretty safe bet the same will be true here, at least as far as being less than the X3 goes -- I wouldn't count on it costing less than the other two, but more power to them if it is.

Those rims on the Brown X1 look HOT! Would actually look amazing on the next M5 lol.

The car looks pretty good from some angles, and not so good from others.. side profile is fine. Interior design is very nice though.

To me a cheap SUV like Hyundai Tucson got a decent design than that raised 3 series wagon thing. Rear end especially can't get uglier than that.
