Can someone match up the Porsche against the 2009 Viper ACR?

Remember that lighter vehicles have the more advantage on the track on corners. Vette will has more chance on a Nascar track.

I think, on the straight, the Corvette should always have a bit of advantage due to its relatively high torque at low RPMs....and the engine's ability to continue to pull forward at higher speeds. Of course, Porsche's disadvantage is having to rev higher to achieve higher torque ratings.
This "challenge" would have been more interesting if there were a few turns or if a simple race circuit had been added to further compete in cornering and the dynamics of accelerating out of corners.
Nonetheless, the Corvette is capable of challenging just about any comparable supercar....it would be nice if GM could make some sort of uber-Vette that could be mentioned anytime the Veyron is thought about.

While i respect the corvette for what it is, I'd hands down rather have the GT2. I think its amazing that a turboed 3.6(?) liter 6 cylinder can keep up with or beat a supercharged 6.2 liter 8 cylinder

A different day, different driver, results "could have" been different. With that knowledge, why not just enjoy the show. I love both cars.

It is what it is. I don't know why most of you guys are scratching your nuts wondering to yourselves how could a Vette beat a Porsche? It is almost like watching a movie and when it is done, everyone gets up and walks out because you can feel from the silence how bad the ending was.

Let's look at the real mechanics involved in the mystery of the 3.6L turbo vs 6.2L SC. The Porsche has a DOHC engine with variable valve timing and has two variable geometry turbochargers. The Chevrolet has a pushrod engine with one Rootes-type supercharger. With all that put into perspective, it's not unusual. One thing though. The driver of a Corvette has to has far less skill than the one driving the GT2. Guaranteed. My money is on the 'Vette though. Better all-round companion.

So you think a car with playskool quality interior is the better all around car? I want to laugh but I cant as you fail that much.

Well the Vette is design for less driver involvement than the GT. It is then a testament to old tech beating new tech. How many times do you hear, " oh, the car is new wait till the next generation to compete" Well pushrods work and very well thank you.

Trust me, The Lexus LF-A is going to spank both the Porsche GT-2 and Corvette ZR-1 when it comes out. For now the Corvette is king.

And Lancia fanboy what does mitsubushi have in this league? Dont even go there. You are so far down the line...your words are like dust, one sneeze and you're gone.

A better driver would have had the Vette winning both races. Btw, don't forget the ZR1 has the better ring time as well. Don't you love the drivers statement when he says I'll get him on the breaks though, or something to that affect. This guy doesn't even realize that the ZR1 breaks are the same exact breaks as the Ferrari FXX. 70-0 in only 145 ft, best ever distance. These guys definitely are Porsche fans and are speaking with their heart which makes me question the legitimacy of the whole video.
