Review: Lexus IS350

Imagine opening for Sinatra, or teeing up after Tiger, or knowing that you're about to go one-on-one with Michael Jordan. The best you could hope for here is a sliver of limelight and nothing embarrassing to happen. That's what carmakers often feel like when pitching a new sport sedan up against BMW's 3 Series, the category benchmark, more than 100,000 of which were sold last year.

it is a generic design, I honestly don't see the appeal of it in the least, but people hate the look of the new 3 and I love it. To each his own.

THE FACT THAT PEOPLE EVEN BOTHER TO VOICE THEIR OPINIONS ABOUT THE LEXUS BEING SO INFERIOR TO THE GERMAN STATUS QUO MEANS THAT IT DOES WORRY THEM VERY MUCH.

THE BALANCE OF POWER IS SHIFTING LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BRITISH CAR INDUSTRY, IT IS NON EXISTENT. ITS OWNED BY THE AMERICANS, CHINESE, RUSSIANS,AND OTHER NATIONS.

THE FACT FACT THAT TOYOTA HAS NOW UNOFFICIALLY BECOME THE WORLD'S BIGGEST YOU AUTOMAKER BOTH IN TERMS OF VOLUMES AND MONEY HAS TO REALLY WORRY YOU!!

NO WONDER THE BASHING OF ANY THREAT TO GERMAN TERRITOR,BUT IT IS INEVITABLE IT IS GOING TO CHANGE WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!!

I think the fact people have brought up BMW in this article is because of the many half-wits who constantly ramble on about how Lexus is dominating the world. (mainly on BMW topics may I add!)

And, judging by this, and many other comparisons, those ramblings are far from the truth.

Also, the damn article compares it with BMW, so don't think it's just us posters bringing the Germans to the table.

And turn off Caps Lock, you look like an idiot.

Without Lexus, all you Bimmer guys would have nothing to talk about! Competition is a great thing. Variety is a great thing. I love cars. However, it is very amusing to watch all the mindless banter!

I would bet that lexus makes more money off an auto transmission, hence why they would only offer a AT at launch in the 350. I have yet to see a 250 manual in a showroom. Like the original (2001) IS the manual was not released untill one year later (2002)

My wife has a 03, and I am trying to talk her into a 350, and she likes her 03 so much, that she will not give it up. She has had 1 small issue with the car for 39k miles (crome top came off the shifter).

Look at the LED clock. The Clock reminds me of the first LED watches that came out 30 years ago. The materials and quality of the IS350 looks cheap for the price. They need to cut about $5,000 off the price then they would havwe a winner.
