SPIED: Opel And Buick Mate = Buick Astra

SPIED: Opel And Buick Mate = Buick Astra
Bolstering previous rumors that General Motors may expand Buick's lineup with new models from its European Opel division, our spy photographers bagged these shots of a prototype Astra model fitted with Buick's trademark waterfall-style grille. The test mule that was spotted in Germany also featured slightly larger fog lights on the front bumper but other than that, we did not detect any other styling changes compared to the Opel - Vauxhall Astra that is scheduled to make its first public appearance at this fall's Frankfurt show.

We do know that GM's Buick unit is preparing to add the Astra to its Chinese market portfolio selling it alongside the Regal sedan that is nothing more than an Opel Insignia with a new grille and different set of badges.

If they were to add lots of thoroughly thought out chrome accents to the exterior and lots of wood and chrome accents to interior, I believe it'll be fit in well as a cute, supple Buick.

Speaking of rebadging other cars as Buicks. I wonder what the new plans (??) will be for the Pontiac Solstice? I think it would be a good idea to bring it to the Buick brand. I did a quick photoshop of it yesterday (morphing the LaCrosse grille and adjusted the headlamps to include the LaCrosse's projectors and indicators, and also dropped the oval foglamps on as well. Didn't look bad at all...must admit. I'd post a link where you guys could see what I'm talking about but I wouldn't want to start a wave of rumours LOL.

Ya lets check it out...why doesnt autospies start a photoshop section? Everyone can do their own renderings oh how they think a car will look or how they think a car should look. Just something small like a user posts his pics and we can write comments under it.A contest once a month or once every 2 months would be cool too...what do u sayyyyyy

I'm afraid there's no future for the Kappa platform, which is a shame. The cars drive great, and a Buick version, with a less plastic interior would be welcome.
