Citroën To Build $2 Million GT Supercar

Citroën To Build $2 Million GT Supercar

Citroën has confirmed plans to build the Citroën GT, a two-seat sports car originally created for the virtual world of the Gran Turismo 5 racing simulator for the PlayStation 3. The car will be available worldwide, said Anouk van Vliet, a Citroën spokeswoman.

Despite being a volume car company – PSA Peugeot Citroën sold 3.26 million vehicles in 2008 – only six examples of the GT are going to be built, with each mid-engine two-seater costing $2.1 million. For that price, you could opt for one Citroën GT or 35 C6 luxury sedans.

The carbon-fiber bodied GT was revealed last year during the Paris auto show. Its aggressive exterior – complete with gull-wing doors, gaping air intakes and large rear diffuser – was a joint effort between Citroën and designers at Polyphony Digital, creators of the Gran Turismo racing game series.

Citroën has since been busy hustling the GT around Europe to prestigious racing venues like the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France and the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the Britain.

Isn't the LF-A lexus's reply to the new NSX that was being produced but then got dropped?

what are you talking about? where in citroen's design do you see the LF-A or any part of the car for that matter? If you could read the blurb you would know this wasn't meant to be a production car it's was originally for the game. They only recently decided to make a couple and put it on sale. If anything this car is way more original than the LF-A. It is the first car to come out of a video game and brought to life.

you're turning things upside down. do you think that lexus would build the lf-a if there wasn't that much competition?

i mean they were the first ones who stopped their supercar plans after toyotas 6 billion loss

"Lexus announced they were going to release the LF-A. Then Benz replied with the SLS and now Citroen and Peugeot are also responding. Where are the haters who claim that Lexus always copies and follows?"

- Lexus by far has the worse fans. lol!

What does the LF-A have to do with $2.1 million car exactly? The LF-A if ever produced is not the Bugatti league. You lexus fans are really delusional to think that. If lexus is remotely lucky, they should be happy to seel 1/4 the amount of R8 V10s that Audi will sell or has already presold. That is who they should be worrying about.

i'm sure lexus is worried about the audi that couldn't (that is beat the GT-R) for more money and less performance. If anything the guys who make the supercars right now should be worried how good the lexus will perform. With 550hp it was said to be doing sub 7:20 lap times at the ring in pre-production trim. I don't know about you guys but i wouldn't think they are going to make their car any slower for production. Name some audi v-10's that even come cose to doing 7:30 lap times at the nurburgring. Maybe the audi's look better than the GTR or the LF-A might look but the performance isn't near either one. And this GT isn't intended on being in that category either- i think it's price of 2 million bucks puts in a whole different league
