STUD or DUD: Does The Audi R8 Spyder Have What It Takes To Be A Player?

What you're looking at are some of the first images of Audi's upcoming 525 horsepower 5.2-liter V10 R8 Spyder in full production guise. It looks remarkably similar to our speculative illustration created last year.

It's rumored to launch with only the 5.2-liter V10 under its new vented rear deck, though it's likely that the 4.2-liter V8 will show up later on in the production cycle.

The reason why I like this because its a ragtop. I am about sick of these hard top convertible cars even though certain ones look good but they add alot more weight than a coupe version of the car. I think the ragtop shows off the sexy roof lines of the car as would a coupe version would do. I have to admit this car is fire I would still get me a Gallardo spyder but this is definiteley a winner.

Oh wait, never mind the soft top won't be on par with a Camaro SS, the SS still manages to get 16/25mpg all the while getting 422hp. While the hardtop R8 somehow manages only 12/18mpg out of a lighter slightly less powerful 420hp car.

Please tell me Where you would place the Hard Top when it is folded away ?

In case you did not know the R8 is Mid Engined and it can not be described as a Large Vehicle.

Looks like the gallardo from the side. This car looks amazing.Ive seen a few in person and i love it.Its slower than most cars in its price range,but it is a very well balanced car.So,STUD.
